without getting all column 88 i think a basic requirement for people who want to settle here should be at least a basic use of english. few things antagonise me but when i knock on someones door and i tell them what job i have turned up to do and they call one of their 15 kids to interpret for them well, i think thats just not on.

I was at Sandwell Council licensing today booking an appointment to re-new my badge and an Asian guy went through to the private room at the back to take the knowledge part of his Private Hire badge application. He had to take someone in with him to interpret.
I asked someone behind the counter how the hell he was going to understand a passenger in his car let alone read an A2Z. I was told that he could ask the radio operator to help him with directions. Without being too disrespectful, a good 75% of the operators in a lot of ranks are girls who are paid about £2.50 an hour cash in hand and wouldn't be able to find their way from their arse to their elbow let alone direct a driver who can't read or speak much more than basic English. :mad:

Erm........ it seems funny that only in the last ten years people became OPPRESED! and wanted to move elswhere! i.e. England! Its Strange that no one wanted to live here in 1916 when half a generation of home grown young men had to go and Die on the fields of France and Belgium to make this country what it WAS! NOW its OK! Actually a lot of third world peeps died in both world wars to make OUR country what it is now. Also by taking all the riches of their countries we made OUR country what it is now.

It seems to me that the kind of message that is mentioned at the top of this thread is spread by National Front or BNP to stir up the kind of sentiments we are seeing here.

I love the way that peeps hate foreigners who don't speak English, how the feck do you think Indians and Africans felt when we went there, refused to talk to them unless they spoke English, tried to destroy their culture and force Christianity on them, thus dividing them even further. We exported their wealth, using them as forced labour and after slavery was abolished, cheap labour. We then invited them here after the war. Now they want to come here we get upset.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Criminals and Idle feckers coming here either, but how do you tell?

Fair point Sir Ewok! But wernt they fighting for their own countries at the time? Its just blatently apparent in the British armed forces that the "Ethnic Minorities" are not as well represented as they are in the population as a whole! If peeps want to settle here and claim to be British then why are they NOT prepared to Fight for us? :confused: :o
