why not find somewhere with either a pressbrake or a sheet metal bender and get em to form the channels out of sheet steel, it would be a lot lighter and strong enough to carry a bike on :) and probably cheaper too.
its apity you ain`t in the doncaster area as a mate of mine has a place near the new airport with a pressbrake, power guilotine, and bender in the workshop.
or failing that look up steel stockholders or steel fabricators in the yellow pages, they`ll prolly sell you the channels you want

'L' shaped steel 50mm wide and 50mm high by 3mm thick. RSA = Rolled Steel Angle :)
Try your local steel stockist or you could try something similar in ally, but cost would be higher and you'd have to bolt it down.

dont know how strong your trailer chassis is, or where it's supported but you could either use lightweight metal cable tray (bout 8 inches to a foot wide with a one inch rolled over lip), or if that isnt strong enough take a walk down to your nearest a road or motorway and nick a section of the rolled steel crash protectors at the side of the road.....
Bit of a tip
If you're gonna buy some bits of Angle, make sure you get Black (not bright) and cold finished, it'll be cheaper!
