I wish New England would've lost  I don't even care who the other team would be just because last year New England stole my team's chance at winnin' superbowl (Carolina Panthers by the way)

Oh not to mention at the end of the game that catch that guy missed If he'da caught it it coulda saved them by tha way  . All he had to do was catch it fall. Then they'da had a shot a a 50 yard field goal to tie it up. into overtime and ass kickin' time.

I only watched till just before the end of the 3rd quarter but, way I see it, the Philly Eagles didn't deserve any more than they got! Mind you, NEP didn't set the world on fire either!

and I think this makes 100 posts! Hoorah!

Erm......Dude! You cant blame the man for making a mistake 99% of the human population would have made under the same circumstances! have you ever played american football? Of course you have! Then you know what its like trying to catch a ball under pressure that you can hardly see cos off the helmet! and lets face it! he`s only human and humans make mistakes. I used to play and I know I`d have probably dropped it and spent the rest of my life kicking myself for it too! The point is... they made it to the superbowl and competed. I wasnt bothered who won as Giants had already had their marching orders, but i enjoyed the game. I suppose being English kind off gives you a natural ability to lose with style! :p ;)

Problem is...we seem to be losing a lot of things on a regular basis and from what I see, not doing it with much style either!

OI!!!

Its not rugby with armour!!! You can hit ppl much harder than you do in rugby, now I would love to steve thomspson hitting someone dressed in kit ...

I've played both and believe me the protection isn't so much protection as a way to hit your opponent without breaking yourself. I played 2nd row in rugby and offensive and defensive line in American football, so I was in the trenches, I werent even allowed to touch the ball in AF, unless it was fumbled.

Just cos the ball is somewhat rugby shaped ppl think its a game like rugby, is basketball the same game as football?????

At this point in time, I would like to remind people that there was a series of TV programmes (BBC Wales I think, waiting for confirmation) in the mid/late 70s, where the Welsh rugby team were shipped to the USA to play the Superbowl winners at American Football.

Outcome? The rugby players stuffed the Americans.

In the second half of the series, the Americans came to Wales to play the Welsh team at rugby.

Outcome? The rugby players stuffed the Americans (who were wondering where their armour was and complaining that they couldn't enter such a rough game)

Both games have their mertis. AF is a seriously hard game. Careers end with one tackle, people smash you to bits with 350lbs of armoured body. Seriously good stuff.

Rugby is faster and more athletic. I am reminded of the day I was walking out of Central Park in Wigan, I was talking to 3 HUGE American fellas. They all thought Rugby was great, but said that they could not believe that people could play that hard for 80 minutes without taking regular breaks.

Mutual appreciation all round for fine sportsmen and fine athletes.

Just wish this damned Hockey strike would end.

No chance of the lock out ending anytime soon, Abbs. This season is basically a no go and its not looking good for next season either. :(

Somehow or other I very very very much doubt it was the superbowl winners or any NFL team, might have been a college team, but who ever it was I can quite understand them getting stuffed at rugby. Just proves my point, its 2 different games!!

Oh yeah and that will be the days when wales had a rugby team????

I'm sure as hell it wasn't a college team. Hopefully the feelers I've put out will confirm this.

And yes, it was in the days when Wales had a (consistently winning) rugby team, a situation we appear to be heading back towards... :)

Rugby and AF are 2 different games, on what I judge to be "better" rugby wins bacause it is more athletic, and because of the lack of pads, a lot more skill has to go into the tackles.
