I have a RF900 which I am told has the same bottom end as a Gixxer, The alternator had no output, so I put a 1100 Gixer alternator on it which also has no output... So I took the endplate off of the end to see that the armiture isnt turning.... It looks to run off the starter clutch (Which is turning)

After a bit of messing I found that the armiture does turn but as soon as the alternator is bolted in and there is pressure on it then the armiture stops turning. It does this with both alternators. So is the starter clutch fucked?

The bottom ends are basicly the same, but I have sussed the problem with a bit of net research, Turns out early gixxers and RFs have a rubber cush drive on the alternator drive that is prone to giving up.... Which would make sense of what I am seeng.

Oh yeah and gixxer alternator shaft is 1mm longer than the RF alternator so has to be filed down slightly to fit
