Hi Guys,
Anyone had cause to go to the TT or across to the continent lately with your trike. Looking at the listings trike does not appear but motorcycle and motorcycle and sidecar do. Which have you booked in as and did all go smoothly if you called your wheels (3) a motorcycle!!

I have seen numerous trikes on the island but was thinking of taking mine over this year and never thought to ask before.

Thanks J

Get ferry accross to mainland n back at least once/twice a year. Only costs me bike price bud.

They did initially try charge me car price cos of its size, but then I pointed out it was taxed as a bicycle n Id argue the point. Been bike payment ever since.:thumbu:

I made enquires about taking a trike and three people on the Plymouth-Santander ferry last year. There's no actual booking wotsit for trikes so I'd tried to book it as a bike, but the sticking point was the three people ... so I'd assume that booking with either only yourself and/or a pillion would be fine as a bike.

Let us know how you get on! :)

For info about taking trikes to/from the IOM contact Dexxie, her OH has a trike that they ride over to the mainland for rallies. But AFAIK trikes are generally charged as a car on ferries due to the number of passengers, and the sq ft they take up on the car deck. However I did meet a couple last year on the Portsmouth-Santander ferry with a rocket trike, I believe they paid car rates circa £500 rtn

I have used continental ferries and tunnel quite a lot in the last few years and always book trike on as a bike. Get a few funny looks but never not been allowed on.
