I belive they are supposed to work using a very strong magnet....it triggers the sensor.
As Saxman says get it and let us know how you get on. :thumbsu:
Dont get one if you have a pacemaker !
Or a mobile phone.
Why dont you just set off a bit earlier?
theres 2 traffic lights in derby ive found at say,5:30 in morning etc that just dont change when i pullup at them, basts dont know im there i guess.would just run them but they got "jump cameras" on them so think id get done etc tho that mite not be the case if they dont know im there.dunno, fkn technology is all bollox to me.
would be nice "extra" to have if these dooberrys work.

I would say it's just another gimmick, probably works on the lights that change anyway when you flash your headlights at them as you approach.
Stands to reason they can't change if someone is coming the other way or a pedestrian has pressed the cross now button, the clue is in the words 'perfectly legal'.

you could always take it steady as you roll up to the lights, instead of blasting off the start line in between em like a drag racer, that way the 2 or 3 sensors in the ground leading up to the lights will detect you, and the light will have a chance to initate the change sequence by the time you reach the stop line.

You must have too much money in your wallet to consider buying em
I would be nice to have a lot of things:
winning the lottery maybe
Cheryl Cole buying your beer all night, then taking you home for a Sh@g
Or saying Grav gets a J*B
but its highly unlikely any`ll happen.
Think we have a different system to the yanks anyway.

i used to work for a traffic management company not so long ago..and the tempory lights that we put up were either controlled on a time system(mainly for daytime use) and of a night would be on detection mode, using a microwave sensor wich does not react to flashing your lights,or magnets..
the fixed ones however run a different system, the detection loop is buried in the ground underneath you..
the magnet trick is just a gimmick, buy driving into the loop the system already knows theres traffic waiting and has to run its full cycle..and most lights(especially in built up areas) are also remotley controlled now via a main hub...
also for a bit of fun..most of those warning trailers telling you about delays are programmed via mobile phone..text..n send..lol..if you do a search im sure theres some of the numbers around..lol:thumbsu:

tbh i spend ALL my money on my bikes so ,if theres summat that works n ive a use for it then yes i buy "toys" and at a fiver apeice dont think id need the lottery :) .
but if they dont work ill find summat else my bike /me needs.
just today bought some o those barmuff things, well good they are, didnt lose feeling in my fingers at all after that,
next toy will be one those 150 decibel loud horns that yells "geroutthfukingway"

Just completed a streetworks course on traffic management. The above is exactly what I was told.
Dont waste your money.

Yup temp lights work like that, but permanent ones work on the inductive loop system. A wire loop is burried in the road surface and as a large lump of metal moves over it a signal is generated (just like electronic ignition)
The system is adjustable for sensitivity so may not detect a small lump of metal ie a bike.
Therefore this gadget might make the system notice you but will not change the lights instantly.
It may be cheaper to contact the local highways dept and ask them to reset the sensitivity. However in Somerset that might cost you more in phone calls than this gadget.
n all this time i thought it wuz pressure sensitive, all that standing by bike n jumping up n down for nothing :(

Yeah...I'd pay for a flat overlooking those lights...
Great chat up line, wanna come back to my flat and watch one of the village people jumping up and down in the middle of the road...

I had a similar problem with light in Reading near a bike park. Spoke to the engineer I saw by them one day and he turned up the sensitivity. They had been set low so every bicycle didn't trigger it but it meant smaller bikes also didn't as they rely on metallic mass. Try riding slowly diagonally so more of the bike is over the strip if stuck.
I also spoke to a plod and was told that you may procede through an unchanging red light if you have waited "reasonable" time and the way is clear. he personally thought reasonable was about 3x a standard change but you are at the mercy of any traffic cop seeing you as to whether they also consider it a reasonable time period
