Good question about the head gasket, as far as I am aware it's the same engine so you should have no worries with the head gasket. You could give Mr Marsden at Z Power a call and get better info from him cos he knows way more than I ever will about Zeds.

if the bore is bigger, then wont the 1000 gasket protrude into the combustion chamber? i had a kat engine with an 1170 wiseco kit on it, but they had used the 1075cc stock gasket, and the bigger pistons had been just about kissing the edge of the gasket. fortunately i found it before the gasket started breaking up and got the correct one.

GPZ is 72.5 bore 66 stroke. The Z1000 is 69.4 bore and 66 stroke. You need to check the flame ring on the gasket is no smaller than 72.5. The Z1000 was higher compression ratio so check the combustion chamber volume is the same.

theres a complete but stripped (though engine in one piece) gpz1100 on the classic bike mag forum, only 250 quid with a luuuurvely stainless 4 into 1 that almost justifies the cost on its own!!

its so cheap, i nearly bought it myself!!
