here we go...
as the 550 engine is having a complete re-build ,and im re-grinding all the valves..do i need to re-shim them?
the re-build isnt a prob but not sure wether i need to...

on a valve shimmed engine always check the clearance after grinding the valves in. if the gap is now less than the minium then i'm afraid you will need to shim.:(

and sod's law dictates it'll be the size you can't get.
I find it is prudent to measure the clearances before you strip the top end off. This way you can compare the clearances before and after and can sometimes swap some shims about before you need to buy new ones. :cool:

Bugger. All you can do is put it together and then measure the clearances. All is not lost though cos you can still swap the shims around till you run out of ones you can use. :)
It's a time consuming task though, Hacky and can be demoralising after stripping and resetting the valve timing for the umpteenth time.
