My beautiful 27 year old sister was up for grabs but now she's getting married. The bad news is she wants me to be her matron of honour. It's bad enough being dragged into a church - I'll burst into flames, but she wants me, a 42 year old, to wear PINK!!!!! I'm sorry but I don't think anyone over 5 years old should be wearing floaty gowns of pink with puffed sleeves.
how can I tell her this withut causing too much offence?

Couldnt you tactfully say that you have been looking at wedding magazines and have discovered that pink is JUST NOT DONE any more...and you dont want her to look silly, you just want her to look fab and pink is not a good idea.... :)
Otherwise why not ask her if she hates you or something? I agree - auburn hair and pink....not good... :(
I agree Pink frills should not be worn once you reach school age!!! (Except maybe on sexy lacy undies!!!!) :D
Maybe you could suggest that you would pay for your own dress - but ONLY if you get to choose what you wear....
Good Luck
If all else fails you will just have to be sick .....vomit might make pink look a bit better.

yeah! well I think I love YOU! :p
My friend wanted me in a puffy peach dress & I said no way.Didn't want to spoil her day but no way was I going out in public looking like one of those frilly toilet roll covers that grannies seem to like.I got my way in the end & she said I could wear whatever I wanted to.I turned up in black. :D Didn't make any difference as it turned out she hired the world's worst wedding photographer!

Puffy sleeves! Why haven't we got the throwing up emoticon?
AND pink!
Seriously, she must be mad. I think you should suggest that if she wants puffy sleeves and pink she'd better find a child bridesmaid.
Or just tell her that you can't do it - I really think this is a case for total honesty, for her sake as well as yours!
If she's wants the pink to go with pink flowers, suggest a deep red, burgundy kinda colour - that would look great with your hair! But not puff sleeves, not on anyone over the age of 7.
- Unless its the bride of course, that would be different! (Phew, only just thought of that one........)
Good luck!
Lets face it Mrs R .. Katie M would never wear pink !

Just had a major tantrum on the phone (she lives in Dubai) and she says I can wear gold instead but that's her last offer. Feckin' great, now I'm going to look like a xmas present. Maybe I should stick one of those little rosettes on top of my head
Do you really want to be her bridesmaid that badly?

No intention of hitting you Jay!!! :D
Daft thing is about all of this, the best one got married first!! The sister, I'm sad to say isn't that brilliant (to me anyway, but I'm biased!!)
It's also a question of parentage, the sis hasn't got the same Italian bits and bobs (for some reason or another) so there you go!!
What is it about being "the bride" that turns some women into power mad, sadistic control freaks to the point where even the groom doesn't get a look in?I've seen it so many times.I'd take my chances & say a dress that you can both agree on or forget it.She'll come around. :D
