we are looking for ideas for metal parts which are no longer produced. to replicate.

for example
yamaha rd 250/350 lc ace bars with clock protectors

z9 and 1000 luggage racks

bikes which still have a following but many items available during thier hay day are no longer about.

all ideas will be considered.

we are already starting to make ace bars because we received a set from a well known supplier (not manufacturer)and frankly i wouldn't put them on a push bike....

suzuki katana exhausts, the 1100 ones are touching 400 quid for a set of average condition ones. new (nos) ones on the rare occasions they turn up go for 500 quid plus a set. ive a mint set if you need a pattern. ditto katana and gs1000 chainguards(same guard, but everyone binned them back in the 1980s, very hard to come by and simple to replicate i recon. finally, 400 katana exhausts. there are absolutely no aftermarket pipes for the small kats, and plenty of folk in the club who are looking for a system, as the stock ones are black chromed steel, and rot like an apple.
other than that, you know folk are paying over a grand for exhausts for gt750 suzukis and similar for kwak kh tripple systems.

Cb750 (f2 I think) luggage rack apparently needs to be hinged to allow taipiece/ seat to lift. Hard to come by or so they say. cb550/4k3 pipes 4into 4 if these come up are mega bucks (I have a crappy set that could be used as pattern) Chrome grab handles for cb500/550 of the type that wrap round rear of seat get very good money on evilbay. can shufty over to sohc owners forum and ask them if there are any bits they think there is a market for if you like

FS1-e pedal cranks (sold an old pattern one for £50 to a person restoring one as everyone ripped em off and binned em) also pattern front mudguards for same (later disc models had speedo drive and hence grommet hole on other side).

MPS do a universal front mudguard, but its hideous;

http://motorcycleproducts.co.uk/catalogue/front-mudguard-chrome-p-18468.html

Anyone who could do something a bit more slender would get my vote

and custom banana seats - Custom fasteners do one:

But £75 for a sheet of aluminium, a slab of foam and a cheap pvc cover?

Do me a favour...

thanks for the suggestions folks.

at present we cannot undertake exhaust manufacture as we do not have a mandrel bender. which you really need to bend exhaust piping.

i list a pattern fs1e front mudguard of the type mentioned.

as for luggage racks.. we know there is a demand for z9 z1000 ones. but we will need a pattern to jig up from.

i will look into the others mentioned.

caliper adaptors to fit jap brakes to harleys.
very interested in this one. but there are a lot of calipers out there, for what calipers????

single wheeled trailers... is there a real demand for these?
as they would be easy for us to make. t45 frame would give strength and lightness, and we fibreglass at present anyway.
is the wheel on a suspension set up?

the towing bracket however would vary from model to model

i will look up the law on them as regards size and weight capacity.
or if someone can point me towards somewhere with the info...;)

Nissin 4 or 6 pot calipers are bloody good at stopping you! as fitted to bandits, tl1000, sv, hayabusas etc, plenty available for reasonable money.

There are laws! :D

I'm up to doing some mods/improvement to mine - in the next 6 weeks hopefully - the CB feking up has taken to much time and funds.... I'll put up some pics when I have a mo...
Mine has a single suspention unit, but doesn't need alot. Its the hitch thats the hard part, with UJ. I'd look into hidden hitches or chrome pannier rack cum hitch rail.

Have a look at http://www.uni-go.com/, but I like the look of the old PAV 40/41's...:)
