Hi can anyone out there advise me on the best diameter rear wheel for my trike,it will be a soft tail if that makes any difference,i think any size from 15 inch to 17 inch would be fine.I know that a 17"on the bike makes a big difference, but thats mostly for handling.Oh and i will be using a reliant axle

I got 16"on mine with 225/55 tyres on them. I'm also using a 3.09/1 diff out of a MK1 3litre Capri and the gearing is not too far out although it may be a little high geared if anything. Blackjack may be able to answer better than me as mines the Trike Torque V-max that he's building in the magazine.

its the outside diameter of the tyre that counts not the wheel diameter...You can use smaller wheels if you use a larger profile tyre kind of thing.

What your seeking is how far it will travel as a bike in 1 reveloution of the rear wheel, Then knowing that the axle will be a different ratio to the bikes bevel box, you the calculate what diameter tyre you need to give you about 90% ish of the distance travelled as a bike. if that makes sense.

If you search on the net for tyre size calculators some quote diameter too.
