On our local radio early this morning (FOX FM) I'm sure I heard an interview with an Oxford City Council official stating that the council was going beyond the government guidlines for health and banning smoking entirely in Oxford?? (presumably the city centre) :eek: :mad: Next you wont be able to buy cake and sugar will be traded like crack cocaine. :rolleyes:

Legally they can't ban smoking outside, i.e. walking down the street. They must mean in all shops and enclosed spaces in Oxford.

Really pisses me off about this banning smoking lark and I dont smoke any more, freedom of choice is what it is about *waves fist in the air*

They banned smoking at work which was laffable considering they arc, tig, mig and oxy ace weld in the high bay.

Know what you mean about weld bays, still they are now leaving themselves open for health issues arising from the fumes. Previously they could dismiss your asthma, bronchitis and lung problems on smoking, now they can't. I don't smoke, but my chargehand did and used to come down to my bay for a smoke at break times etc. The manager tried to catch us all out and very nearly succeded as well. Bloody Smoking nazis :mad: :mad: :mad:

I hope that's true, I wouldn't supprise me to find out there's been a change in some law which entitles town councils to ban smoking on the street....I mean you can't drive a car on half of them any more. :mad:
