I heard yesterday that I've been accepted as the new Dorset Area Rep for NABD.

I've learnt a lot over the last year or so, about being off the road, about being in a wheelchair, or on crutches. So I thought I'd put that knowledge to good use by volunteering and making something useful out what has been a complete pain in the proverbial!

I hope to start a local group and to run an NABD stand at the bike nights on Poole Quay in the summer and at any other bike events in Dorset that I can get to. I've got a local pub in mind for meetings - two bike clubs meet there already so I hope they've got room for another!

It's great to have something to plan for, that I'll be able to do whether or not I'm back on the road on my trike.

:)

Wish me luck!

Yessssss. I know that one (learned it too late for me though!!), you can only delegate so much to Mrs R and the cats, then you get rebellion... when the cats turn on you, you know you've got it bad!

Well Done BG. :o Nice to make something positive out of something not so good. Just goes to show that all knowledge is useful.

Yes it was the bikers meeting at the Jolly Sailor that started of all this "Dream Machines" stuff - thats what they call the bike night on Poole Quay now, its a bit 'organised' and imo none the better for that, but at least it wasn't stopped when the council wanted to - the traders on the quay saw to that!
Get thousands of bikes there on a fine Tuesday evening in the summer!

I do intend to delegate - my first action will be to get a regular meeting of local members going so that I've got someone to delegate to!

I have a history of starting things - a fundraising group I started for one charity when my children were small and now I'm a granny and its still going - without me, cos I like to get something up and running so that it doesn't need me any more, then I can move on to something new!

Welcome to the inner echelons of NABD. May all of your local meetings become mini-parties (and with beer and a good crowd of people, they usually do  ).

There's a few of us lurk on here (and other forums), including Rick when he gets a minute (which ain't very often).

Good luck with everything, and if you need any help, just shout (not at me though :D )

Cheers,

Byrnie.
