removing a stick on tank protector

the lads new bike has got a tank protector that has become tatty.just wondered if when we try to take it off will it take the paint off aswell thanx:(:(

Heat it with a hair dryer 1st.

Wot he said...heat it with a hair dryer until it becomes tacky, then peel it off very slowly while still keeping it hot then dab any little bits off using the sticky part as a pad, then do a final clean up with cutting compound and finish off with a wax polish...John

or run tooth floss under it as well as the heat, like a cheese cutter affect.
