Just got back from charity run couple hundred miles round island. Me on Harris n mate Terry whos up on holiday on his Benelli Tornado (his only transport!). Did the tour of the island with bout 30-40 bikes. Shouldve been more but rain on n off put folk off I guess.
Ended up back at a hotel in Stornoway that layed on a buffet for us, etc. Stuffed our faces to bursting point. :D
Harris behaved itself impeccably all day surprisingly. Didnt even get a flat battery from all the stop/starting all over the place. Handling good, going good, n stopping good thanks to my monsterly oversized discs. Felt a bit odd compared to the sea of brand new sportsbikes on the run tho. They all swamped the bike to have a nosey every time we stopped.
My left hands fookin killing me tho from holding in clutch round town. Olde HD setup clutch n its heavy as fook! Like holding shut one of those springy hand exercisers for 10 mins. Couldnt let out clutch in town even in 1st gear as wouldve ran into back of someone as going that slow in procession. Police escort through town with folk waving at theyre doorsteps was a bit odd. Was tryna keep the Harris quiet behind the cop car, but gave up as was impossible considering the exhaust is a hollow can with 3" hole at end (no baffle or sod all). They didnt give a shit anyway.
They raised £1300 at first count but still money to come in from folk. Not too shabby for tiny place. Going to local hospice. :thumbu:
