View Full Version : Postage Costs

I've noticed that when we're all buying things off each other its sometimes the postage costs that put the boot in and stop a sale going through.
Me and a mate have started a courier business where we've opened accounts with three major carriers and can get anything picked up from any UK address and delivered within 24 hours to any other UK address for £11.99, ( new price I'm afraid ).
The goods have to be securely packed, clearly addressed and must weigh under 30 kilo's. Different rates for larger weights and overseas shipping. All parcels are fully insured and you are provided with a tracking number.
You can pay me by cash, cheque or PayPal. If I receive a PayPal payment before 11AM, the parcel will be collected on that day, or if I know you I'll get the parcel collected if its urgent and wait for your payment (maybe).
This doesn't have to be things bought off each other on the forum, we can get things picked up from bike/accessory shops who might be ripping you off on the shipping or/especially e-bay. You don't have to be selling stuff, we can collect for you.

is that 9.99 for any weight up to 30kg??
i use interlink at the minute for all my ebay stuff, can be cheap but for light items they are a tad expensive.
but yes postage prices are a joke sometimes and do stop some sales :(

Any one package up to 30 kilo's in weight. Five items in one box, as long as its under 30 kilo's.

5 different addresses in one box??
sorry for all the quizzing but could be right up my street :)

One package to one address for £9.99. Doesn't matter how many things are in the box.
The tracking number means you can see exactly when things are signed for and stops unscrupulous bastards from saying stuff hasn't arrived.
The packages must be less than 4.5 feet long.

Top :D :D :D
that's a brilliant idea Dave, and kind of you to share it with the forum, we get stuff off Ebay and shipped from Newcastle shops (cos Basingstoke just ain't where it's at for some things, bike parts especially)
so we'll bear that in mind
:D :D

good idea.
i'll use you for my grp supplies which currently cost me £16-20.00 at the moment to have delivered to me.
my usual motorcycle parts supplier is fine as they charge me less than your cost.
but i will use you for picking up parts from custom chrome. as that does cost me a lot. and £9.99 from holland to wales is great. i mean we are europe now so holland is the uk :D :D
seriously though yes i will use you.
via paypal.
just one piece of advice though.
register with "nochex" they are 0.8% cheaper and no bloody charge backs unlike paypal. plus they are british and buyers don't need to register which puts some people off paypal.
and lastly good luck. i'm all for new business' especially if it means i can sell them a trike quicker :p :p

But because me and you dracken are practically related, (rumour has it that we have shared the same sheep), just let me know when and what you want picking up and then pay me later by cheque or trike cost deductions, then no PayPal charges. Don't forget less than 30kg though. :D

Might be interested in this from a business perspective......I pay TNT £14 for next day up to 30 kilos.
Is there a restriction on WHAT you will carry and do you offer enhanced insurance say up to £3000?
Cheers

Four slash cuts Dave, less than 30kg?
TaxiDave
14-02-2005, 09:35 PM
How long are they? If they're shorter than 54 inches (which I should think they are), and you can pack them all together securely. £9.99. Picked up from your home or work and delivered the day after. :)

Just to let you know that I can now quote for heavier than 30 kilo items such as engines or frames etc. I do need a fairly accurate weight though. The insurance limit is higher as well. Obviously it would somehow have to be packaged well.
I can still quote on next day or three day delivery.
E-mail or PM me with a phone number and I'll get back to you.

It won't actually be me who does the delivery Pierre. Its far too manual a job for someone of my genius to do, so I contract it out to Parcelforce. If you could pay me by cheque or PayPal it would be appreciated. PM me for details. No rush.

Unfortunately I've had a new contract come through from Parcelforce and they're going to charge me an extra £2.50 per parcel from the 1st April (and I'm not laughing) so I'm gonna have to put the price up to £11.99 from now on. Sorry about that. Dave

Oh dear.
Thanks for the info though. Mate of mine is ebaying a load of spares at the mo and I'd suggested to use you. I'll let him know the price increase before he starts doing his listings.
