The next project is gonna be a v. small trike, how easy would it be to shorten a standard set of upside down forks?

I want to remove roughly 12" to 14" out of the overall length.

Any advice??

Would that be a good idea? In reducing the length, would you not create problems with the suspension? And that's reducing the length an awful lot.

Why not use scooter shocks? They're nice and short and there are some pretty meaty ones on the market, but they may need stronger springs.

I know, just need to make it to scale, seeing as someone sold me a really short axle.. :D

failing the shortening of the forks, its gonna have to be a little leading link front, was just wondering if anyone had ever shortened forks before!

would scooter forks withstand gsxr power?!?

i spoke to my local breaker/fixer upper, he reckons most telescopic scooter forks are rubbish, apparently they pop seals every five minutes when the kids start trying to wheelie them ....

then there'd possibly be a problem with springs and damping even if you can keep seals in them

i would'nt use scooter forks no. plus many these days come with a cartridge set up and often only in one fork leg (cut backs again):D

that is a massive amount to reduce teles by.
make you a short set of girders if you fancy

Best of luck with it chap. The girder option is what I was thinking of but dont know how it would fit with the gixer motor's 'look'. Nice set of black uns could work out nice but not going to be a budget build ..... then, are they ever? :o

Yeah, thats why I wanted short forks, though Im considering girders now the more I think about em!! thing is with budgets, set your budget then times x 3 - thats usually about right for me!
