Have any of you lot found your perfect partner through a dating agency or advert or would you avoid like the plague?
Personally I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole as I think you never know if psychos and child abusers use agencies all the time!!! I'd only ever date someone I met through friends, biking events or at work.
Have any of you ever had any really bad dating experiences?

Never really had a "date"
Just kinda , got drunk and woken up next to somone in the morning.
Then you introduce yourself and see if you really like them or not.
Most times - not!
In fact , I think I invented speed shagging ( as opposed to speed dating)

Yes, and Stephie and I have been together, very happily, for 18 months yesterday. :D :D
If you really really want all the details, it'll have to wait until you meet Stephie sometime, like NABD 14.

Nooooooooo, that would be taking it a bit too far, even for Mrs R!! :D She's on about a mate of hers at uni who is always going out with losers.
We met through mutual friends who just threw us together - literally you might say! :D

I joined a dating agency years ago when I was on me own. Met a whole lot of losers but it was something to do and got me out of the house - and made me feel better about myself cos I wasn't as sad as them!
Felt a lot of sympathy with one bloke who said he was still feeling a bit bitter about his divorce - till I discovered he'd been divorced for 13 years!!!!!!! But he did tell me how to mix gloss paint with interior filler to use it outside...... and it's only just coming out after about 20 years!
One bloke I talked to on the phone alot and we really sparked off each other - but when we met, there was no spark at all!
Another bloke, we got as far as exchanging letters (therefore he had my address) then we arranged a meet and he never turned up and didn't answer his phone afterwards! That really freaked me, I wondered if he was outside watching my house or what! He got in touch in the end and told me he got cold feet and went away to his daughters for a week. But I didnt believe that cos he was the one who'd made all the running and kept going on about how good it would be if we got married (before we'd even met ffs!).
I still believe that he was using the phone calls for what I will only describe as perverted purposes.
I reported him to the agency.
While I was meeting peeps thru the agency I met a bloke at work..... we've been married 18 years this year so I spose he must be alright. But he's not a biker.

I'm not sure whether to be insulted by that remark or not:eek: Anyhow I couldn't possibly get rid of him because my mother disapproves of him and I'd just hate her to say I told you so.............it's just not going to happen.
Also Mitch is a sex God :D

I was referring to Mitch's propensity for accidents, I could see how that could throw him from one situation to another kindof sudden and unexpected like :D :D

I met my last 4 boyfriends on the internet, you just have to be careful, didn't give out my address til I'd got to know and trust them, only used my mobile number so they couldn't even find which area I was in, no personal info, not even place of work or surname.......just common sense really.
They weren't perverts or wierdos as I avoided those ones (they were easy to spot)
I can say tho that you do get through an awful lot of frogs till you find a prince, trick is to just date men till you find the right one, don't jump into bed with them or get emotionally involved on the strength of a few good dates, it often took me over a year to realise my new man was really an old dishcloth :eek: but luckily I was never too involved with them so walking away was easy :cool:

Don't just tell her you are not interested in a relationship. Tell her (if you have not already done so) that you do not wish her to contact you. Don't be rude or aggressive about it. Just polite and firm.
If she continues, you could try taking out an injunction. But nutters often don't take a lot of notice of them (voice of experience, LOL).
(I think you have to do this privately through the court, rather than get police involved, as they wont really do anything unless she :eek: attacks you :eek: ).
Keep a diary of future events. Simply state what happened, what she did, and when (time/date/place). Even phone calls. Make sure you ask her every time NOT to contact you again. And make a note of that too.

Never used a dating agency but does anyone know how to get out of being stalked by a school dinner lady. Its 18 months since my wife walked out and I am still having problems coping but get this.
In November I fitted some doors and did a pile of odd jobs for a woman on the estate where I live. I got paid OK and everything was fine. Since then she has taken to calling round and supplying me with lots and lots of food. After Xmas, I started recieving phone calls ans TXT messages from her. I have told her that I am not interested in any relationship but she doesn't appear to be listening. From last night, I stopped answering the phone. (I have 2 lines and all my mates know the number of the other line) and turned my mobile off. Tonight, she turns up with 2 coppers who start to break into my house when I don't answer the door. She rang them and said that I was a nutcase and she was worried that I may have harmed myself. My nerves won't take much more, What the Hell can I do?
Ironic nick you have there if you don't mind me saying.
Internet stuff i've had, but never in person,
Restraining orders or something seek legal advice, i just can't imagine a worse situation mate.
Hope you get it sorted and i wish i had the answer. :(

Just the obvious though, play everything by the book. Especially now Mr plod a sniffing. Keep a log, record EVERYTHING, like previously mentioned. Good Luck Man.

and if you are friendly with ya neighbours close to you HB you can tell them about this loony and ask them to watch out for her, you may need witnesses if she decides to get the police again,,,,and btw, the diary is a must,,,
any contact you have with her, as in telling her to leave you alone, make sure someone is with you incase she cries foul play,,
I'm concerned that she told the cops you were the nutter which would be the reason I personally would tell them what's really going on, and make an official complaint about her, or she could turn the tables on you
btw how did she get your address and phone numbers? Is she more than just a wifey who you helped out? Is she an aquaintance anyway? Or did she 'find out' what they were, in which case I would def report her to the cops, even if it's just to get it on record
you know what the powers that be are like, 'well there's no record of any past complaints Mr happybiker' etc etc

I would return to the police station today, and complain that she brought the coppers round for absolutely no reason, and that you are just trying to avoid her "advances". Yuk. What a horrid situation to be in :( Hope she's not a bunny boiler :(
