Watch out for even sneakier behaviour on the part of supermarkets and food manufacturers.

Tesco has reduced the size of its in store baked loaves by 200g to 600g - but hasn;'t cut the price.

Likewise Birds Eye puts 30 fish fingers in a pack instead of 36, but again hasn't cut the price.

Most other food manufacturers are doing the same - 400 g packs of meat become 350 or 300.

Recession or no recession, they'll get their fucking bit, don't you worry....

Fuel prices have come down because the big Store retailers said they would cut price of fuel at pumps, it ws national press about 2 weeks ago, it has nothing to do with fuel companys, the fuel company run stations have to follow suit on the basis of local competition pricing policy's ie be within a penny or two of the big shops, and yes they ring eachother to confirm prices on a daily basis I have witnessed that myself, I think the Gvmnt would call it a monopoly but siht happens. Stores wont put food prices down because the cost of food prices hasnt come down. But dont go expecting to see those little 5p off a litre of petrol at Teso's vouchers for a while either.

Well you should see the prices of dairy/egg/wheat free stuff...it's gone sky high....I'm living on cereals, rice, peas and sweetcorn and tinned fish at the moment (though not mixed up together in one serving!)

My soya dream has gone from 48p to 69p, soya yoghurt from 1.15 to 1.47, soya milk 60p to 66p, soya marg from 79p to 1.43.

I've also switched to a weekly shop (which I detest), but find if I plan each day's meal and buy for each I don't spend as much.

That can't be the middle of nowhere, it has to be the edge of nowhere, it's less than 45miles to the nearest Asda or Tesco from the middle of nowhere...John

thought i'd look at the asda site as i'm unsure where the nearest one to us is at.
low and behold it's just 36 miles away in Pwllheli. well thats great if i had a boat. however if i want to get there by road it's 68 miles away.:D

when i went to buy my 1400 intruder it was 87 miles away. 180 miles later i got there. why don't they do these things based on roads, not as the crow flies:o

what engine is it?

I ran a land-rover for 60k on unleaded before I finally got an unleaded head, and when I took the original head off there was no sign of any damage.

Also have a friend who runs a 4 star engine on unleaded fuel with no issues, he puts a litre of 2 stroke oil in every tank full and reckons that will take care of it. (not at MOT time though).

Oh, and in keeping with the thread topic, unleaded 109.9 and derv 119.9 at our local garage.

On average if the price of crude is about $110 a barrel then the pump price is about 1.11 a litre. However, if like me, you live in a holiday area then you get ripped off to the tune of about 1,20 a litre.

Plus an extra five pence off a litre if you spend 50 or more on shopping:D
