if fitted with a deep seat it's not so bad.
thing i'm not keen about with a rigid trike is the way it tosses you about when one rear wheel goes over a bump or into a pothole

Nowt wrong with hardtails for daily use!!!!!!!

Aint even got a big padded seat on mine, but have found i alter my 'ride position/weight distribution' (if that sounds right..........i know what i mean)...............lowrider,BIG apes,forwards,etc................you tend to end up sitting in a way that compensates for the lack of 'softness'.

Hardtail you can 'feel' the road more.

Struggling to put certain things into words so will leave it at that, but sufficed to say,got a GS550 hardtail and a softail GS850..............MUCH prefer me 550 hardtail...................but there again,I did build that from scratch and she's been with me for YEARS,(about 18)!!! Will always be me lickle baby. :D

blacksword must have a big bum ha ha

seriously though, tis more pain for yer back than yer bum (if you got a bad back tis no use getting a hardtail)

but ok for shorter journeys I guess

what about a softail?

mmm initially found my Hardtail (not Trike related) quite hard going...but it was my first...

Love it now and agree with the sentiments about 'feeling' the road better...

Also still comes up with the odd surprises too...lol

Corners and/or bends with a combination of wet/ice/potholes/bumps/farmer's ****e on the road/horse-crap/drain covers/even soggy fag packets etc etc etc still make for an interesting and 'fun' ride :D :D

My other half thinks it's a hoot! (not!) but I love it!

I used to use one for work and stuff. Just used it the same as any other bike with the exeption of not going over a ton with it cos the back weel used to start wondering!

If you look at my avatar it is of my old bike and sidecar. An old M21 with rigid rear end and tele forks. Rode it everywhere and anywhere. If you are fit and have no back or leg problems, then go for it. Also had a cx500 rigid trike and had enormous fun with it, had three seats in line and drew looks werever we went.

I had a hardtail trike and did loadsa mileage on it with no probs. Smaller rutted roads / tracks werent very comfortable but because the seat was low and the footrests were quite tucked up, the riding position put more weight on the arms / therefore forks / therefore I had suspension! If the riding position were more 'laid back' maybe with forwards or similar I suspect it wouldnt have been a very pleasant experience at all!

And who's complaining about skipping over potholes etc? Thats the best bit! Especially once you learn how to get the outside wheel airborne round roundabouts :D I almost miss it now I think of it.

Let us know what you decide
