my work buddy has a golf caborlet and has a problem of some of his gages not working ( temp, fuel gauge and rev counter) we have had a look and there are no blown fuses and the conections for the wireing loom have been cleaned up ect and re connected, the sensors have been replaced and are new, now the bit what I am wondering is, could the relay have packed up ( would explain why the the bits aint tripping), we have tried getting a piece of wire and tripping them whilst they are off the sensor and only the red one works ( the coulours of the sensors are red, black and white) he has tried getting a haynes manuel and there dosnt seam to be one for this model.....
its a 1992 mark 1 caborlet vw golf

any bloody ideas

ok
on the back of the cluster there is a little 3 pin black box, it's a voltage sensor. if it packs up those 2 guages will not work

the revcounter should be a 3 wired one
live earth and trigger if you put a bulb from the trigger to earth it should flash when you crank the engine.

if theres more i'll put in on later

sorry it's called a voltage stabiliser . i'm guessing it's on the back there somewhere
trigger wire is often green and i got it wrong you connet the lamp from the live to the trigger then it should flash.
i'll get a bit more info if you want
