any pics or links to water cooled chops

as per the title, anyone know of any nice chops that use watercooled sports bike engines??

reason being that I got this ZZR600 sat here, with tatty bodywork, but all the suspension brakes tyres etc are either new or recently overhauled

planning on a simple low hardtail built from it but wondering how its going to look being water cooled with rad and oil cooler??

intend to use something like a nitrous bottle shaped item as the expansion tank, to hide as much as possible

but off the top of my head and quick flick through mags couldlt find and similar engined chops, usually thats for a very good reason

hoping that I can get rid of things like the screen and luggage rack, seat, nexxus pipe etc and recoup some of the purchase price, to help cover things like yokes and headstock that I need to have made.

a good mate of Niks and mine.
Gaspode (the bike) has been around for quite a while now, walked off with many a trophy and is used and abused on a very regular basis. :eek: :thumbsu:

was looking at it on ebay, sadly never going to have the sort of funds to just buy a chop, hence having build everything with things from skips LOL

Have a look at Twizzle's MySpace, Tony, he's done some interesting water-cooled chops. :)

The proble wi' 'em, as I'm sure you're aware, is making them look neat - hiding all those water pipes and the radiator etc. It is possible, but it requires a bit o' thought, y'know? You can make 'em look good - Budgie did an amazing job with Helene's GTR1000 trike, for example. :)

nah its just a standard sized can cut down I beleive

the more I think about it the more I fancy the challenge :)

the watercooled engines are very smooth cased and respond well to a nice coat of black paint, as mentioned already thgouht of places/way to hide the expansion tank, and plan on hiding the filler cap assembly either under a false section of the tank, or behind a covered in gooseneck at the headstock

going to break the zzr600 up very soon anyway, get things moving on and see how much money I can get from it

keeping the forks, wheels brakes tyres etc etc, as they all either new or recently rebuilt, lots of crap but also lots of good bits to get rid of, the exhausts tend to make half decent money on ebay, so if theres enough money I might also sell the engine and then search out a big aircooled lump, zedthou preferably, or go for it with the zzr engine

Might do something with my gpz9 when it's suspension linkages finally die. As it was built as a bitsa and states much on the V5 it is reg'd on a "y" plate (don't ask) and so I am sure I can do an awful lot without SVA (pre 84 and just listed as Kawasaki 900 not gpz900 on V5)

I actually think the smooth lines on a watercooled lump can make the lines better than all the cooling fins on an air cooled lump

LOL have to confess not really all that big on the topless girls with the bikes, but that photo ranks as one of my all time favourites

one of the best looking trikes I ever seen, exactly what I would have if I had the funds and ability

Yeah, he's still doing bits and pieces, not quite as much as he used to perhaps, but ... our rob off 'ere is sharing workshop space with him so that's two very talented gentlemen under one roof. :)

In Germany a couple of years back mate was having a really good look at a well ordinary chop, until he pointed out that rads etc had been hidden and he couldnt work it out, spoke to owner in broken english to find he'd stuck them in the pannier with a big cut out covered by gauze, opened panniers and they where flat against frame, dont know if it worked well or for how long but was a good way of hiding em
