Haven't smoked for two weeks quite happily but now have raw animal cravings for a ciggie :( I think all tobacco products shouls be illegal then we'd have to give up smoking, personally I think smoking is far more harmful than the odd recreational drug taking!
When will the cravings ever wear off?

Two weeks today for me too - it's bloody awful ain't it?
What I've done this time is find a tin and every day I'm putting in the money I would have spent on fags - this is gonna be my savings towards a chop - it's keeping me going at the moment.

the craving is not always a craving as such. it's you remembering what it felt like to smoke.
unlike say a motorcycle accident were you can remember the pain. so don't crave to go through with it again.
with smoking you remember what that felt like. and no matter what negative things you can remember about it. they don't compare to what it feels like to give up.
sorry i can't explain it any better.
but the craving does go away. on average the first 6 weeks are the worse.
after that it is just memmories, and if you go back to it then . you can put it down to stupidity not craving.
keep at it.
i gave up just before xmas

As every one says the cravings do go eventually, when I gave up I used the nicorette chewing gum (mint flavoured the original is pretty foul) found it helped. On the gum for about three months then I was fine, I gave up seven years ago and never missed it once. Good Luck it will be worth it in the end.

Well many congratulations on getting this far - I'm sure you have done far better than many others. I took a different approach to quitting as quite frankly, I was not very good at just stopping so you have my every respect.

Have you got a dog ??
Take him for a walk to get your mind off it.
Don't do anymore decorating, the luck you have you'll just cause yourself more stress http://www.100-biker.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

I have four cats - you ever tried taking a cat for a walk on a lead? They just lie down and refuse to move :D You end up taking it for a drag!
The funny thing is I didn't even enjoy smoking that much cos it was always outside, freezing cold and you always feel like there's a big lump in yer chest that won't go away.
good tips for giving up
put lotsa fag ends in an empty jar, half fill wif water, put lid on. when tempted to smoke, open lid and smell the contents
put ya off for life it will
2nd tip - if you're so tempted that you buy some, paint them with light coat of milk, allow to dry, then when you try n smoke em they taste and smell revolting, works quite well apparently.
I've packed in lotsa times, usually last a few years (7 was the longest), but I always find that when you take up smoking again, the first few fags taste rotten, so tell yourself how bad it will actually taste, might work
finally, sit on yer hands, refuse point blank to buy any, and be stubborn to yourself
hope it works :D

Good idea, nicotine stained fingers are always pretty unattractive too if you smoke roll ups like I did!
