Just a quick one as I'm supposed to be doing my essay. TV licence people promised me faithfully that I would not receive any nasty letters from them when I rung them after getting rid of our t.v. We were told someone would call round to check we had no t.v then they wouldn't bother us again.
Surprise, surprise, this morning I gets a foul letter from them threatening me with £1000 fine as I don't have a t.v licence.
Looks like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing as usual!
I feel a vitriolic letter coming on!!!! The first of many no doubt:mad:

my trick for getting people in offices to notice you (loony did object to this on behalf of his office staff)................

send em a letter

and sellotape all the edges and flaps

so it takes em ages to open it

they don't forget you or the content of your letter when you do that

or simply ignore their letters and wait for them to take you to court and then you can tell the assembled persons on the bench all about it, that should stop all further problems, might be an idea to get them to tell you writing that you don't need a licence first.

chuck their letters in the bin Mrs :D

sounds like one dept. isn't letting the other know whats happening.
ring the first lot again and get them to send you a letter saying you don't need a liscence, and then let the other department take you to court.

dont know how accurate this is, as its only a vague memmory, but a while back i heard about a tv licence prosecution of some guy who, whilst he had no tv set, his pc was set up with the correct graphics card and inbuilt tuner software etc so that he could watch tv on his monitor, i think he lost the case as well!

I remember being told that the (very mad) father of one of my biking mates got a visit from the tv licensing people about 10 years ago, and chased them off his property with a felling axe and blood curdling yells (his default behaviour for people he didnt like, he cut someones moped in half with a chainsaw because they left it parked outside his house for a day). Ever since then theyve never been back.
Ive often considered developing into someone like that, but fear id do it half heartedly and get arrested...
