slightly off topic but here goes.
I was listening to the radio, and the topic of telephone numbers starting in 0870 came up, it seems that a lot of companies, and in fact a lot of GP`s surgeries are converting to using automated telephone systems, you know the ones, select 1 for.......select 2 for...............etc, so if you want to make an appiontment to see your doctor, you might find yourself dialling a 0870 number which will cost you up to 8 pence per minute, but because these 0870 numbers are not officially "premium rate" numbers, (with premium rate No`s you cannot be kept on hold) you can be sat listening to music while waiting on hold with a 0870 number and ending up with an average cost of £1.20 just to make a call to book an appointment.
there is a website which you can search for an alternative low cost number for any business etc using 0870 numbers called say not to 0870 (http://www.saynoto0870.com/) some of the alternative numbers are mainly numbers given for you to dial from outside the UK, but by substituting the correct UK area code for +44 you can play companies at their own game and save ;)
