A swan came through my windscreen once, I shat myself to be honest and all I could claim for was a new windscreen?
Gotta say this whole, claim for f'ing anything and everything culture gets right on my gibbons.
unbelievable, time we stopped this compensation culture, that lady who was wrongly imprisoned for killing her babies (turned out to be cot death) applied for compensation and got nowt...!!!
ffs
put me in charge.....just for one day
me back
ok so he can't work due to stress, what about every day folk who get stressed through family life, debts, off work sick, get laid off, lose house and on and on
do they get compensation cos they can't work due to stress?
if the interest rates go up like in the early 90s (up tp 12% at one point) so we all get stressed about paying the mortgage and go on the sick, can we sue the bank of england do you think?
pah!

.......that lady who was wrongly imprisoned for killing her babies (turned out to be cot death) applied for compensation and got nowt...!!!
That was because they tried to gain compensation for wrongful imprisonment,
wherein she was convicted on evidence that had not been delivered by the Crown but by an independant "expert" and, therefore it is that incorrect evidence that was at fault and not the legal process or the employed agents of the Crown.
As such the independant "expert" is the one who should be pursued for compensation.
Yeah BURN THEM........BURN THEM ALL.
I just think that people cannot always blame another party when things go wrong and even if they can, shouldn't automatically be totting up the winnings, unless they can prove categorically that they did it on purpose.
I am sorry this guy is stressed, but next the bloody Goat Farmer will be claiming for loss of earnings or something.
This was an accident, we can't claim everythime a cat or rabbit runs out in front of us and to be honest I think this issues here are simply related to the event of him hitting a suicidal person - thats gotta be a pretty horrible thing to witness but there is only one person responsible for that situation happening and they're gone mate!

Surely the 'independant' was still paid/therefore employed by the prosecution so it still should ethically/legally? make them liable to pay compensation? Justice in this country stinks! Poor woman would still get thousands took off her for 'board & lodgings' while she was in prison even if she won!

If I remember correctly this was not a "paid" expert employed by the CPS, but an independant professor who approached the prosecution team with "percentage likelyhood" Character evidence based on seeing a television programme about the kids deaths.
As a witness he would have only got his expenses like parking, loss of earnings while attending court and food vouchers. Not on the payroll.
The basis for his testimony was subsequently questioned.

Even if he was paid, it still falls to him, as the CPS can only act on what the 'Expert'says.
I can't see what's wrong with compensation anyway. If your company puts you in danger and you get hurt, why the feck shouldn't you get cash for it. It is the only way things get better. In the old days, your husband/wife/child gets mangled in a machine and all they do is stop their wages from the time of the accident, now they have to pat compo for it. Most Health and Safety at work was won by peeps fighting companis and costing them money.....
Also as bikers, we put in loads of compensation claims, Remember tha guy and his missus who was hit by a reversing police car? Didn't everybody bay for blood and wish him good luck with his claim against the police? is it just because he is a biker that we want him to get the payment he deserves?
Sorry it makes my blood boil, when peeps are denied natural justice. If some myopic twat pulls out on you, Stupid or lazy boss buys dodgy equipment or a roofer drops a brick on your head, you should be paid damages comensurate with your injuries and suffering. What I don't agree with is massive injuries for stress where peeps have accepted promotion and can't cope, go back to your old position fer feck sake. Women who claim to be sexually harasssed at work, but don't reportit or jack the job in. Prisoners who have a hard matress and so on. Trivial claims are the kind of shoite that should be stopped and the legal firms that bring them should be fined up to five times the claim value. For instance, somebody gets a blackman's pinch from dropping a library book on their finger and sues library for £150,000. The solicitors should be made to pay £750,000 for wasting everybody time and for being greedy twats.
When you get hurt seriously, see how you feel about compensation then.

I agree with Ewok.
In the cot-death case mentioned I think the CPS should have checked it better, the whole testimoney was speculative and argumentative.
Not a single "fact" was introduced that could be said to prove murder "beyond reasonable doubt".
Compensation is paid for "wrongful" imprisonment, which normally is derived from incorrect evidence. In this case it was an "expressed opinion", and it is that opinion that was challenged. The CPS accepted the word of an "expert" in good faith, and therefore I think that "expert" is culpable for the consequences.
