I've recently bought an old gixer 750, and wanna get it ready for an mot asap.
There's a small amount of play in the rear swingarm, only about 3mm at the end of the arm, only up and down, not side to side.
Will this be a problem for a MOT??

All depends on your MOT'er ! although best to change the bearings, it makes the back end a bit interesting with loose bearings!!! :)

Up and down, sounds like shock linkages.
Have a look, make sure they're not seized.

I've had it all stripped down, and the linkages and bearings are all pretty good.
As far as I can see, the play is at the point where the swingarm meets onto the linkage, seems like the mounts on the swingarm are slighly over sized.
As it's only about 2mm of play at the end of the arm one of my mates reckon's I'll be fine, but I just want a 2nd opinion on it!
Other option is gonna be the dodgy shop shop that does the MOT thru the window!!!! ;)

every year for about 4 years the same tester mentioned a bit of up and down play in my old XR600R's back end. I just 'gruffed' at him to shrug it off like and each year it passed no probs. I honestly don't believe there was a problem as the bike was sound, but the shock did kinda move. If it gets a fail I'd take it elsewhere maybe.
