It's hard to say , but I don't think people like Bill Halley , Jerrry Lee Lewis and Buddy Holly would have had the same effect to "start the ball rolling".

Chuck Berry, great talent, great singer, unfortunately black or he would have been the 'King' of rock'n'roll and is in my opinion.
I suppose the white kids of the time would rather listen to poor white trash than black. It's all history, if Hitler hadn't been born WW2 would never have happened, there would have been no parental backlash against wartime restrictions (or so many one parent families) and no Teddy-boys in revolt of rationing on clothes and material.

Thats the whole thing you men cannot understand and never will. I agree with Biker Gran, women look at things in a completely different way to men, and yes some women are attracted by money Ewok, but the majority dont care... Elvis had it all, and by that I mean the things that attract women, sexy eyes, wonderful smile, gorgeous bod, talent, oh the list is endless, but the most important is 'it' I cannot explain it to a man, it just doesnt compute!
And yes even as a bloater, he still had that glimmer of it, and it still worked...
I agree his films were on the whole pretty ****e, but that statement could be applies to the majority of 'stars' of that era, all were pushed into films as it was the easiest way to get seen by the paying masses across the world.
That doesnt mean his concert films were the same, 'Thats the way it is' was excellent, and to my mind he was at his peak then, oh making me drool just thinking about it...I want one of those white scalves... and I want it NOW!! :D
