Could you all take a look at your insurance documents, what I need to know is are you paying what is termed as a 'Policy Issue Fee' it could be you are not, or with some companies you could be paying as much as £35!
That fee is just to issue your bloody papers, I'm trying to get a picure of who is charging what right across the board. so if you wouldnt mind just have a look and reply with your insurance co name and the cost of the charge.
thanks
Pat

Have any of you heard of this before, is it accepted policy? Do you KNOW if you are paying this, do you feel its okay to pay to be a customer?
Thoughts please !!!

If you insure via a broker rather than direct with the insurer, then the broker can charge an admin fee to cover getting the paperwork produced and sent to you.

The insurer can also charge an admin fee for producing the paperwork (whether to be sent directly to you or via a broker).

All the above can be covered under "policy admin/issue fee". It's not illegal as long as it's declared. The charge does vary from insurer to insurer, but also from policy to policy.

I have asked at work to find out if there is a list of fees/insurers/policy types available. I'll let you know.

I'm insured with bikesure, they charge a £20 admin fee for new business, plus if I change my vehicle or add a rider etc there's a £25 charge for amendments!! Hadn't actually realised I'd been charged the £20 until I just read it :(

I'm with Telebikes, doesn't appear to be any charges unless I change bike or cancel the policy early, then there's a £25 admin charge.
