I've just been voicing my opinion in a different thread in shows dept and thought i'd see what you lot think.
I do not believe that MAG shows like Builth should open the doors to day trippers.
Please vote I'll try to give as many options as possible.

Some rallies do day tickets and some don't, it's up to the different organisers to decide on this and way up the merits of whether or not to sell them.

If you go to a rally and don't like what is there and day trippers realy spoil it for you why not complain to the organisers of that event or vote with your feet and not go back next year.

Each and every rally is different with a different atmosphere, I tend to attend the ones I like and avoid others. I honestly can't see the problem with day tickets, as long as the rally isn't soley focused on them.

I do vote with my feet, I havent been for two years.... I send a freelancer to do coverage cos I want to support MAG as best I can.
The Farmyard & Stormin have shown we dont need the day trippers to make a successfull event , I just think it could be so much better. :D

Having organised events before i can honestlie say that "day trippers" are a pain in the arse, especialy when it comes to getting them to go home!
Some have been known to hide in friends tents or toilets!
I feel that if an event wants to have "day trippers" then there should be a seperate camping area away from the main event for the campers, and no one but the campers should be in there, any-one found in the camping area that isnt camping should be shown the door!

what your saying is then dont let them near the campers

If I am camping you get to know who should be around and who should not be there. So you get a feel if your stuff is going to still be there ,you are not going to get this with day trippers.yes know the extra revenue is all ways nice, but it not at the expense of the core surporters.?.

If they want t' go out for the day send 'em t'zoo!
If they was really interested they'd buy a bike an' live the life !
Some would say that's a bit 'arsh but what the hell ,I don't turn up at their tupperware/garden/tea party to see how they "enjoy"(?)themselves!!
Rallies is for bikers, not hitch hikers.

This all rather depends upon the purpose of your event.

BMF and MAG are there to promote motorcycling/biking and to stop legislation aimed against this pastime/lifestyle.

If your event wishes to promote the positive points of biking then let them in and see how they feel.

If its a biker do for bikers then restrict as you feel is appropriate.

Build a wall and no one will be able to appreciate the positive points.

Let them in and they might become part of the scene.

Be wary but be welcoming !

not sure what you define as day trippers?

this year due to the amount of work on i am only going to be able to go
on monday. it's only a 50 mile ride for me.

are you saying that i should be refused entry?

Some of the so called bikers are only day trippers to the biking scene as the bikes only come out when the temp is above 15C and there isnt a rain cloud in the sky. but as someone else said if you never allow people to attend these rallies then they will never appreciate our fantastic way of life. remember we were all rally virgins once.

I resigned myself not to renew my subscription after the local Cambridge & District fiasco, so now I'm only a BMF member, but they're as bad methinks. So I've decided to join the greens and destroy them from within. Lentil anyone? - Is that why I'm getting my own campsite area?

I think that there is a difference between a show and a rally and that MAG should allow day entry to shows. I also think that a bike (or 3wheeler) rally should be that. No cars, vans, pedestrians, horses, Yaks, LLamas or HGVs.

NOTE: Free Tea is nice too.

Same with me. The last few years I've done plenty of weekends but this year with work commitments and the need for extra cash at home at the minute, apart from The Bulldog and Rock & Blues, any rallies/shows that I want to attend will have to be on a one day basis. I can understand not wanting the passing public to let their kids wipe their snot all over your bike, but the kids have got to get a look and see if its what they want in the future.
Again there are daytrippers and then there's us lot who can only get to a rally/show for the day. Not necessarily the same.

What happened there then Shudy? I know that Eastern Region's got a new Rep - Hi Chris! – so I would reckon that would be put right soon enough.

I agree about a rally only allowing bikes/trikes in - a show is a different matter. The show in question is organised by WMS on behalf of MAG. The smaller MAG dos (like Stormin' and the Lion Rally) are run by the regions/branches themselves so their point of view is like yours.

P.s. Free Coffee is even better!!

I went to the Eastern AGM a year before Chris was made rep (he was at that one too), so I was one of the few that cared!
I wish him all the best for his term and will support any do they put on, subject to day trippers being allowed of course!!

Beer and Tea are BREWED which makes them superior to "other" beverages

Beer and Tea are BREWED which makes them superior to "other" beverages

In our house, because we're a pair of 'hardworkin' so-and-so's' (yeah right says Mrs R!) the Tea is normally STEWED that's why we drink coffee! A bit like when I worked on a road gang - they used to make tea by getting a kettle, filling it with water, then once the water had boiled they'd put the teabags into the kettle. They'd then cook the teabags and pour the resulting mush into a cup. Then they'd expect you to drink it!!!!!
