My first foray into customisation rather than just ratting. Given that the dragstar already looks like a hardtail, the frame remains untouched.

I have removed all the accessories from the tank and laid down a matt black base. I intend the chequerboard later today and add possibly some go faster stripes in red and white down the tank.

Rear mudguard I have removed and chopped down with a grinder.there wll be just enough room for the pillion seat and then the kicked tail of the original guard. The black with go faster theme will be continued on the mudguard.

I'm going to get a decent LED tail light fom Dracken and some replacement bars. also going to replace the mirors and footpegs.

longer term I will replace the exhaust, air filter and get it jetted. I will also spray some of the sh1te plastic shiny bits matt black.

I'll post some pics later.

I'll be interested in where it all goes wrong.... :p Remember a hammer is NOT a replacement for spanners/sockets/screwdrivers/beer

I'm just wondering if he's done the rear mudguard the way we discussed at the Poisoned Chalice meet.

Grav, exactly like that , your advice was sage indeed... not to mention saving me hours wondering how the fuck to join it back together!! ... pics below:

The skelatal rear frame which I was very tempted to spray and leave exposed.. I would have fibre glassed under it if I was going that route.

Post grinder - I had to route out all of the internal support plastic to make it fit

The Dragstar is a nice bike...I would have to see the before and after photographs viewed from the same angles to be convinced that you had done the right thing...they sound nice too...which model was it... :D John

John , in answer to to your request , imagine the pic below with a bit of rust and neglect ,. The previous owner had slid it down the road at least once:

The conversion isn't finished yet so i'll post follow up pics next weekend as I need to work on it this week to get it up to scratch.

you actually in Manchester or closer to Crewe? The reason I ask is I met a fella on a baby dragstar in Aldi a few weeks back. :)
