Well pop along to Cash Converters with your car or bike and the V5. They keep your V5, photograph your car/bike and you fill in the necessary form.
It's that easy........ and all for the princely sum of 205% interest
Surely that can't be legal. Just heard it on the news, a bloke went along and borrowed £750.00 and he will repay over £1600. shiiiiiiiiiiiit. I'm in the wrong business for sure, but then I'm not cut out to rob people and take advantage of their desperation, so I'll leave to the daylight robbing scheming swines that are.

I have no sympathy at all for people who cannot manage their finances. As i see it cash converters (or whoever they are) are providing a service for the desperate to release some cash and why should'nt they charge a high rate of interest?
And its a handy place to sell stolen goods.

Very hard for a young couple with kids to manage these days, They rent a house for almost £100 per week, rates another £20, heat and light another £20, insurance, clothes, food, transport, medicines, phone, tv licence (so that they don't go to the pub) school things, so they try to save money by buying their own house...even more expense...and some people earn £200 a week before Tax and stoppages, Wife at home to look after the kids...you try to even get a £9.50 each 4 day sun holiday out of that each year...I've got sympathy for people who can't manage...I just haven't got answers....John

that is indeed ridiculous
yeah know all about that end of the financial spectrum
barclays bank today gave me my 11th interest rate rise in a row!!!!
bank of england put up interst .25% they put it up .33%, BOE put it down .25% barclays put it up!!!!!!
my mortgage is totally crippling, and after chatting with people I realise that they have bigger loan than I, but paying about half what I am
its that vicious circle, lots of places told me that they could save me a fortune ie hundreds per month on my mortgage, but do the credit check and fail!!!
houses are dropping in price a an alarming rate in my area, now at the point we going to stop paying the mortgage, just live there as long as possible and walk away when we have to, then rent, going to save thousands in the end

not all people have cash to manage as john said. back in the mid ninetys i did my back in and dispite having worked and payed tax & ni ever since i left school the dhss said i didn`t qualify for payments. all we had to live on was £50-00 a week. we had no savings as all our money went strait out on bills, you know the sort of thing, trying to buy our first place then kid comes along so the misses has to give up work any savings that we had spent on kitting out stuff for the baby. thought we was gunna starve to death at one point, so it`s not really always a persons fault that they become financialy up the creek. companys like cash converters proffit hugely on peoples misfortune, pushing people even more up the creek so then they go back for more so called help and are plunged even further in to the shi*e. as far as i`m concerned people who make a fortune out of hard up familys with extorsionate intrest rates are just a bunch of greedy basta*ds.

Don't do it Tony. They will persue you to the end of the earth and you will never get another mortgage. That may not bother you now, but you never know what the future may hold.
Go see the Citizens Advice people. They have financial advisors that can usually point you in the right direction of some help. Besides, if you already have a mortgage, do you have much equity in the property? If so, all may not be lost as the mortgage lenders are falling over themselves to get new business and will consider a lot of cases that they wouldn't normally. Once you fall off the property ladder you will have a nightmare trying to get back on.
Also bear in mind that most landlords do credit checks nowadays.
Good luck sorting it mate. I have been there and got myself clear, no thanks to an extremely spiteful, money grabbing, alcoholic, drug ridden bitch of an ex wife. I hope her pubes grow backwards and strangle her from the inside.

already spoken with letting agents etc and the credit checks are only to search for CCJ's not credit scores
we did have equity in the property, but my house for example house dropped probably £30k in the last 3-4 months (realistic valuation and they were selling at that price of £160k, now they listed at £129k and not selling)
probably still got some, but with the impact that my mortgage payment has on the settlement figure its just like pissing in the wind
I got a settlement figure twice, 2 months apart, so bearing in mind that there was 2 months of mortgage payments been made, that settlement figure had only dropped by £80 !!!!
amount paid to them in 2 months, close on £3000
hmmm I did the maths, at the rate property is dropping my current plan if it doesnt sell within next 2 months, is to stop paying or make token payments here and there, will take 6-8 months to get me out, by then could have amassed roughly £10k under my mattress

Many people hit hard times at some time in their lives and I would never sneer at anyone who is struggling, in fact I would help them out as much as I could. Illness, bereavements, all manner of things can cause cash problems and I never take for granted what I have today, cos it could all disappear tomorrow.
But when you get vermin like this preying on the needy & desperate, it makes me sick. :(
I thought loan sharks were a thing of the past. It seems I was wrong.

If you can actually hide £10k before they throw you out..you will be able to register as a bankrupt, then it all happens for you..you automatically get unemployment and housing paid for, you may be able to stay in your own house (which the mortgage company will own) you will get everything free and in three years time when you are clear of debt the mortgage company may offer to sell you your own house back for the then market value...less a discount because it has a sitting tennant...thats when your £10k will come in handy as a deposit...It happened that way to my neighbour in the 80s recession...Not a gimmie but a possibility...John

Well minimum wage is £5 something...lots of people here on minimum wage...36 to 40 hour week, most shop assistants in small shops, most security guards, wharehousemen, trade wholesalers, cleaners, fruit or potato pickers, farm labourers, if you are lucky...some jobs only offer 24 hours...call in at your local job centre..without any qualifications...or even with too many qualifications...

but thats about as good as it gets round here
people will happily work for minimum wage, but its all about knowing how to play the system, I havent a clue, know people with far bigger incomes than ours, and they get all sorts of benefits, childcare paid for and cash each month etc, we get £42 per month, damned TV ads about its money with your name on it, fucking aint!!!

Well that's about £2,750 a week more than Devon tonys wife gets...You just have to go through it before you can even believe it can happen...That's why I say these MPs dont live in the real world...most of us would look at what you get, and think...I could buy a house every two years with that sort of money..and still live well...

Ok fair comment, but some people face a LIFE TIME in this ****.
My wife is disabled,i had to leave work to care for,she was 40 when that happened.
Thats it,no possible good times ahead,no get a better job,no things will be better when the kids leave home, nothing except a miracle.
So the thought of that till the grave ain't pleasant, hence my comments when someone reckons we should be able to manage.
As to wages,i get £ 48.65 a week,to "earn" that i must show i work at least 37 hours a week caring for my wife.
I do that in three days.
We also pay rent, council tax and stupid fuel bills,we don't save cos we can't.
Sorry for that rant but at times,it does get to me. :(

Now that baby is here, I'm claiming every bastard thing I am entitled to. Just 'cos me n the missus are proud don't mean the baby's going short. I've worked since I left college, so some pikey scum have sky telly and be all comfy and not have to get off there arse and work?

Ive been skint in the past....very skint, n in loads of debt..
worked like a bastard, cleared debt, took opertunity to be come my own boss,
well in the end what had i to lose! i decided never to have bank loans or anything again..I have one credit card, with a huge limit(Harley money!) an if i "need" something urgently like a car...well i flash the plastic, it also means i clear it off very quickly! i also have a stash of cash in a 2 bank accounts, and never less than 6 months morgage in the bank.....
I consider myself well off.....
But, ive never been greedy......my house when i bought it cost 26K....now its worth 100K or so , i dont need anything more, and location doesn't bother me hence i don't feel this desperation to keep up with the "mac Jones"....
I recently re morgage to double the money n let me put in double glazing n some other stuff...
Morgage fer me is £300 a month, which is alot of money to me even when i can take home 3 times that in an average week....
I work with people with 350K morgages, I dunno how they do it, i really don't...
But each to there own....
There aint no pockets in a shroud, but i know everything i have i pay for, i owe no one anything (except the building society) n i look forward to the day that debt is gone to.

I divorced in 2000,after being married for 14 years, we were 'very comfortable' as a couple, i was chief cashier for a high street bank, he was in the forces, i left the family home, and all my material possessions, just taking kids, and moved/ran from Ipswich to Oxford, I never took one piece of furniture, and never took any of his/our money, it was just me and my kids.
I managed to get a transfer in my job, however, working 50 odd hours a week, (being paid for 39,) leaves kids to pick up bad habits, and after i saw that 'our' new lifestyle was making them suffer, i left the bank, started to work around them, as a community specialist carer, i used to look after MS, MD, Althzeimers, and Stroke Victim patients.
My son continued with boarding school, part paid by the Forces, and w*nksplot (ex husband) paid the rest, My rent on a 2 bed house was £725.pm and learning to be financially independant, was as hard as losing all my future, my home, my job, and my friends, bankruptcy was the only way, it was a 22 grand bankruptcy, but they pulled back 19 from w*nksplot. (we sold the villa we had in Gran Canaria, but the £3,000 was mine from tryin to survive since the split)
Its now obviously almost 8 years down the road, I'm still living hand to mouth, but other than this house, everything is mine, I have a car, not new, but the poshest one i've had since i was married, i got a bike, she aint much and i had to save for a month to buy a pair of mirrors. I decided i would never get stressed or heartbroken in another job, so i make jewellery, sell it during summer and i'm a checkout chick part time, I live on the breadline, and its tough, but from the day i walked out of court, with the bankruptcy, i've never owed a penny. But learning to be 'thrifty' is sooooo hard, specially after being able to just get the cash without a thought of how much it was and just buy it for 8 of the 14 years married.
This cash converter thing is terrible, people become desperate and will go to any extremes, i'll never forget the desperation i felt, its borrowing from peter, so paul can come round and bleed ya dry with extortionate rates.
CHERRYB...all manner of things can cause cash problems and I never take for granted what I have today, cos it could all disappear tomorrow.
Wise words and also never a truer word said, I wasn't prepared for my rainy day, I wish i was, (i'd have done it all so differently) the fact you dont take it for granted, is smart.

well today i've got £58.63pee in the bank. .so i'm banging on about money.
I lived for years in a run down pit village and clawed me way up, on me tod.
Nobody rewards success in this country, you just get knocked for it, regardless of how hard you worked to get it, including doing a FULLTIME degree course whilst working full time for 3 years, never less than a 90 hour week.
I have one credit card,(huge limit) paid off monthly. No mortgage. Drove a banger until 2002 before i got ok car, NOT on HP.
Ok, so always got nice bikes, thats my choice, NOT on HP.
I dont live in no flashy mansion, this is a bungalow/building site. We live on a set budget of £500 a week, thats both of us, 4 dogs, 3 bikes, 2 cars.
Anything else has to be assessed and planned for.
Lectric here is £40 a week, gas £30 and the Ctax is £40.38pee, a week.Add the insurances. ...sky, tv licence, water rates, it dont leave much.
yeah, i'm rich, on paper, in property, and I dont give a fuck what you think as no fucker gave it to me, i didnt win, or divorce it, I earnt it.
Practically being on orphan makes ya strong, no one to fall back on, and dont forget I done all that with a permanently busted neck.

Feck me those violins are getting louder and louder. FFS sake Frenchie get a grip. Does anybody really care how hard you feckin worked and what you got out of it?? I dont. We've all worked hard Frenchie, and we've all got what we've got, but YOU are the only who feels the need to ram it down everyone's thoat on every thread you can possibly manage.
It is quite obvious you were not born to wealth, cos people who are brought up with it usually dont ever mention it. So wind your neck and shut up about how much you got or aint got and how hard it was for you to get what you got and how hard done by you are.
Cos we've all been there, bought all the T shirts you can think of, and its boring.

Calm down girls...you've both done quite well...but at the end of the day it doesn't matter how much or little money you have, as long as you enjoy as much of life as you can..we all waste money, the odd pint, a lottery ticket, cigarettes, maybe even a meal out or just a takeaway..but even those of us on our uppers can have a great time on a budget holiday, even if it is only Butlins once every five years...take a few seconds to relax, enjoy the moment, struggle through the nasty bits and you will get a lot more pleasure out of the good bits...as for me...I'm going to buy the winning lottery ticket on Saturday...Then I will buy everyone on here a new motorbike...Well me anyway... :D John

Good on you!I live in a flat which I'll own outright in 5 years.I was determined not to end up like most of the "pram faces" in the council house scheme I came from.I've worked constantly since I left school.Sometimes more than one job at a time.I appreciate that I've had the good health to do it as some folk don't.Some folk have bad luck with health/money/debt but if you've worked your arse off to get what you've got you can be proud of yourself whatever anyone else says.I know I am.

i give to charity all the time, like when i doubled the collection for Pugwash, thats everyones contribution, doubled, so he could re-do his bike.
. . .then there was Mark, when Flower died, annoymous donation of deposit and rent to get him through the bad patch cos he lost his home. .
. . . .then theres the collections at every party for MAG or whatever is the flavour of the day.. .
. . .sponsering lemmy's kids collection. . .
. .then theres all the shovel bits i gave the young 'un here building a chopper on a wing, a prayer and an apprentice's wages.. .

Dont think all are knocking ya, I DONT know ya, i dont know your past, and i found your post interesting, You are allowed to be be successful, but someone at one time, said of an unwritten rule, where you aint allowed to big yourself up, and if you do, your classed as all the things you've been accused of being.
Its the same when you give to charity, its a giving thing, and therefore once you give, you forget you done it, not talk about it, however admirable it is, you should not need to bring it all up to defend yourself against anyone, certainly those that dont know you, never met you, and dont have any importance in your life whatsoever.
For those that know ya, For those you've helped, they know what your about and you just need to let that little warm glow inside of you, burn out all that chill directed at you from cherryb.

Ok cut it out..all of you..this is no good for anyone...take a step back and stop it now...when we meet up, we have usually riden for several miles, and it is a pleasure to meet with any of you...please don't spoil that pleasure for people like me with all this moaning and backbiting...please draw a line under it and think of the positive side..if you feel upset with someone, put them on your ignore list...I like to think you are all a cut above the people who haven't got bikes, we are the only group of people who treat everyone the same regardless of background, as long as they ride a bike, most of us wave and will stop to offer assistance..you are all better than this..so play nice...and ride safe....and no more talking about money...John
