Been 3 times and will be going back in 2006. You will love it, especially if you ride down as well.
Good Luck...

That's given me an idea XJ -
Mr.Dan - why don't you fly over with your missus? It's the best way of spending your wedding anniversary , rather than going to the same old rally and packing your tent up and coming home early cos you're both bored.
Out on the Friday , back on the Sunday.

I would really recommend Thur-Mon to take on Faro, Flights are cheaper too

Better still Wednesday as you can pick the best spots near the bar and showers (especially the late night shower parties) and settle in before the hordes arrive. Leave Sunday or Monday or if flying Tuesday. You can camp from the Wednesday to the Tuesday, though you will be a bit lonely after Monday breakfast. Without transport, you can walk to the Priah (Island) and swim ans sunbathe) or walk to local shops for local people. Buses run from the main road to the island and the airport is walking distance from the camp site. 2 litres minimum of water a day, however much alcahol you drink and don't sleep in the full sun or you will be lobsterman for the rest of the Hol. I flew first time as I only had bike and there was three of us.

After Monday lunch time the site is pretty much deserted and the scavengers come out looking for stuff folk have left behind. It is amazing what gets abandoned. The year we went on the bike, we had to leave shorts, T-shirts, an airbed, sleeping bags and a towel behind. Other peeps left tents, sleeping bags badges, stickers and so forth. Although you may be one of only a dozen tents scattered around the site (and it's a huge site) your stuff is safe, I have never heard of a theft or incident like you get at big Brit rallies. From late Monday, there are not lights, toilets or services, but the airport is 5 mins walk and they do a lovely cooked breakfast Bacon con Ocho Y Tostadas (bacon and Egg on toast) and they will have clean toilets. Walk to the Island on Monday after the crowds have left and the beach will be virtually deserted. In fact you will wonder if it ever happened as it will be like a ghost town.
Even if you have to fly, for whatever reason (and you won't be the only ones) you will have a marvellous time and so will your lad. Enjoy......

Flight booked, now, where do you get rally ticket from ?
I've been to faro rally club site, no link, also to msn group, also no link ? Do you just pay on gate ?

Just go and camp on site. As you come out of front of airport, go to your left. At end of building or just past, there is a road that heads away from airport to roundabout. Go to roundabout and turn left. Head up that road to second on right (not the pull in for booking). head up that road and you will see the guys building the shopping enclosure on the right hand side. Go up there and camp. Wait till Friday morning and walk back to the main road junction and you will see peeps booking in. Make sure you take your cash with you as you will not be allowed back on site without a wrist band. Once you have wristbands, you can come and go as you please. Those with bikes/trikes will get stickers for headlamps once you have bands or if you took bike down to register. No crash helmets have been required in the past for the weekend, but cops were cracking down on knob-heads riding badly (and it has to be bad). Drink driving rules stricter than England, when enforced, so be careful away from rally site.

Was hopin' to ride down to Faro possibly play there as well but we'll see what happens about that. Goin' to Germany for our club party the 1st w/e in July then the followin' w/e I'm playin' in Hellevoetsluis in Holland so I thought I'd take me a trip down an' round the Black Forest for the days inbetween. My mates in Holland said they'd ride down with me from Rotterdam to Faro but time is gonna be a little on the short side due to work so I'm comin' home after the Dutch gig an' if I get the opportunity to play at Faro then I'll fly down. Not quite what I wanted (can't do everything) but then again even Ewan an' Charlie were restricted by time on their travels.

Would suggest if you want to play Faro, you should be in contact with the club ASAP. If you Google Moto Clube Faro, you should reach their website and get a contact number or E-mail address. Hope that helps.
