here are some 'hopes' for 2005

here's hoping:

reality TV gets banned

Becks and Posh do not appear in any media coverage whatsoever - same goes for princess diana

politicians/footballers/soap stars/anyone famous - do not get their private lives brought into the public arena (just heard a Malaysian footie star got sacked by his club cos he dumped his bride at the altar via text message - disgusting thing to do but what the fek does it have to do with his job??)

people learn how to drive safely and unselfishly and high powered vehicles get physically restricted to 90mph (is it too late for bah humbug? :D )

the NHS get their act together

stamp duty, customs duty, VAT and inheritance tax all get banned

burning fossil fuels gets banned worldwide (yeah I know it means we have to stop using internal combustion engines, but saving the planet is worth it - bring back horse travel :D )

any more for any more??

reminds me of an incident a few years ago.

i own a 450 bhp 1969 pontiac granprix. if i'm lucky and wear my light foot it will do 15 mpg but 11 is more the norm and 6 if i'm feeling frisky.

while in a queue to enter an american car show at chester race course. i and many others were pounced on by friends of the earth types.
this is how it went.

excuse me what size is the engine?
6.6 litre!

does it run on unleaded?
no!

how much does it do to the gallon?
quoted them the figures above!

there then followed a lecture on how i was using an insane amount of fossil fuel and i would be helping the planet if i bought a modern small eco friendly car with an engine about the size of my starter motor.

my reply was
i do between 2 and 3k a year in this car.
can you tell me how much pollution is caused in the manufacture of a modern car with all it's plastics?

they could'nt answer me and i was told that i was anti social.

so my only wish is that we stop killing each other with wars
plus ban reality tv as well :D

also reminds me of when I had to fit an invertor at the centre for alternative technology in wales...all them friends of the earth types, driving their cars and smoking (ie burning paper = trees)

in my yoof i joined greenpeace only to cancel my membership after 6 months cos of the amount of junkmail they kept sending, waste of paper = trees..!

There's an idea...some of the people from this forum in the Big Brother house! It would either be fantastically entertaining or scare the general public so much that it killed off reality TV.Either way we can't lose!

If I wanted 'Safety' then I wouldn't have been a biker. Not only did I ride 'death-trap' brit iron, which wasn't new even in the 60's we had gangs of mods to contend with as well as gangs of wannabe hell's Angels (there were no official Angels at that time, so most of these groups formed through warped ideas of what being an Angel was all about). I saw the beginnings of the 'Jap' bike invasion with cheap, high revving and ultimately throw away bikes. Safety had nothing to do with it and getting bikes to go under 90 would mean either removing one or more cylinder or restricting the riders wrist action (oooeeer! missus).

Could do with an end to all terrorism and it's causes, free beer for bikers and no road tax on PTW and trikes.

That bride that got dumped by text at the altar. Why on earth would you take your mobile up the aisle & where did she carry it?
Does my Reliant trike count as eco-friendly recycling?
