Been off work all week with a really shítty cold, as has Mrs Shifty. Well pissed off with it but seems to be on the way out now.

Off to Sainsbury's in a bit for some more "Scottish Cold Remedy" :D

Both myself an' Brenda have had the most stinkin'est of colds for the last week an' some. Our lovely daughter (who shall from now on be known as Typhoid Alex) came home from school with it two weeks ago an' promptly passed it on to us. It's just a really heavy cold .... but it ain't flu. Someone recently came up with a good description of the difference. Flu will put you in bed. Not only that, but you will be so fucked that if someone dropped a tenner by the bed you would be too fucked to actually move to pick it up.


I hate gettin' to some of my customers houses, as I have this week, an' they're off work with 'flu', if they told me they had a cold fair enuf but I really hate it when folks call it flu an' it ain't :mad:. They need to get out of their offices a bit more an' maybe walk their own dogs.

That said, I really couldn't face travellin' up for the meet up this weekend. See you another time folks.

After cuttin' the lemon in half, squeeze the bejeezus out of it, an' pour the juice in the mug.
Take a hot lemon powder, chuck that in too.
BIG fuggov spoonful of honey, add that.
Fill with hot water an' finally add a large slug or two of whisky.

I make this in a 1Lt tea mug I was given whilst in Germany a few years ago.

I'm not sayin' it works but it helps.

A clove of garlic in there helps too - garlic contains ecchinacea which boosts the immune system against colds and the like

Grated root ginger in there also helps and will mask the garlic a tad but yeah, it will alter the taste (and not necessarily in a good way as I'm sure you suspected).

Gives ya some impressive garlic burps too :D
