Some good old pics on here, back when a field and a loada cans were all that were needed for a weekend away, not twenty stalls, three bands, and a bouncy castle.
Like the music an all.

You can tell it's the 80's, hair and lots of it. I did notice quite a few cars/vans but no trikes (unless you count the reliant waiting for the next decade to decide it's fate)...... ;)

Check out the jeans, dirty smelly fúckers, you dont see originals no more.
I remember coming back from Kent '86 and seeing the HA wearing hooded tops, so went home and bought one, along with everybody else. Then it was writing down the arms, so eveyone done that for their club. You can about guage the era from the biker fashion of the time.
That's back when i was freetened of people in grubby jeans, and folk with Brit bikes, it was all too badass and exciting for me to comprehend.

'Twas indeed a good age of the manky over-jeans made waterproof with oil/grime/kack etc. I was always self conscious at rallies though, coz I had short hair, being navy; really felt out of place, like thinking everyone else sees you and thinks you're an undercover cop or something.
'Til you see someone else with short hair then run round shouting "Look out, a fekkin nark!" :p

That reminds me of buying Easyriders back in the 70's and 80's, I forget what they called the bit where readers sent in their own pics but you could spot the British ones a mile off just cos the people were so much grubbier! The downside of all that was that so few pubs would let us in and I don't think I'll ever forget my ex-girlfriends mum who would let me in the house but insisted on putting a towel on the chair before I sat down :D

My ex's father still talks about the day he first met me and put newspaper on the chair before letting me sit down and then rinsing the oil off of the drive.

I also remember going to pub in Chelsea in the pouring rain, it had leather seats, as I got up a 'gent' sat down and slid straight off of the wet seat onto the floor pouring his pint all down his front.

back in the late seventies / early eighties it was Bogart's and the Golden eagle in Brum, both long gone now sadly. the Costermonger was alright but it was and still is a student hang out where old bastards like me just feel fuckin' old. sometime's we would put our cap's on and nip over to the black country and gollop loads of beer down in the Grange (houses built on the site now), the manchester store's in oldbury, the fox and goose in west brom (U/B's). there was a couple in dudley an'all that xj phil might remember.

Back in the days when gay meant happy and carefree, there was a bar under the Swallow Hotel called The Gay Trooper, where the really scary bikers used to hang about. If I recall correctly they were called the Blackburn's Gang.

Brilliant pics them, and it's right about putting an approximate date by what the bikers were wearing and how they looked.

Whatever happened to runs as opposed to rallies? Tent n doss bag and a few beers and we were sorted.

Love a bit of the old biker nostalgia now and again, I think it's good to remember our history.

Ain't been up there for ages, cheers.

To be honest most of the old crowd have gone their separate ways, losing touch, you know how it goes.

Most people we know who ride, we only usually see at rallies.

Got fond memories of piss-ups in the woods with a fire though, had to leave the bikes chained up on the road and walk the last mile or so.

Bloody good laugh it was :D

I tried to organise (if that's the correct word) a run over to Warwickshire and stop on my mate's farm out in the sticks and then hit the local villages and cause mayhem and merriment like the old days. Lots of people were interested but getting a date set is a bugger, I'm gonna try again next year. Was hoping to hire a minibus and get a non-drinker to ferry us from the field to the villages. The rest of us are to ride down, the camping gear, cans and bottles can get ferried in the minbus.

Shifty

Sounds a good crack. I think it's too easy to get lazy and only do organised rallies, shame though...

'Spose it gets hard sometimes to set things up too what with people's various commitments - not as young and carefree as we were eh? :D

Which would tie in nicely with Taff thinking he had picked it up in Germany some time.
