never needed a bouncer, never seen any arseache whenever i had had a few scoops in there, bit like esquires ( also biker friendly), danny dont give a **** who you are as long as you drink, be merry and not start scrapping.........welcome to the forum mate, i'm in kempston, what part of the 'shire' are you in

fair do's to the place for being agreeable toward's biker's but it's a far cry from when we had dedicated biker pub's. trying to get a beer anywhere else was a tad difficult especially when ale houses had the legendary 'motorcyclist's by appointment only' sign nailed to the door :) but then we were social miss fit's, a sub culture which relied on word of mouth for boozers that welcomed us and did'nt mind people being set on fire (after all they would be extinguished with half a gallon of hofmeister) never did like the stink of patchouli (sp) oil though. anyway, enough of the nostalgia :D

The Bear has always been cool for the biker types, but the downside is the parking.............shyte!
That and the fact that Bedford is crawling with filth most weekend nights after 9pm (and I don't mean the local hookers either!)
In my younger days, we used to get rat arsed, then get a taxi to the edge of town, where we had our cars stashed, and drive home blotted! At least we had no worries of getting pulled in town.
Spent many a night wankered in that pub.......... :)

Is The Star & Garter still open,I was under the impression it was shutting as the locals weren't as biker friendly as the pub.
