View Full Version : Why?

Hello all,

I have a question for everyone (please excuse my ignorance) :D

Why are there no riding clubs in england?

In america we have the usual big main MC's and a high number of riding clubs.

You can tell the difference by their jackets, the MC's have 3 piece patches and are Known and respected everywhere they go.

& the riding clubs normally have the letters of the club and sometimes a name on the top, I.E the R on the jacket for Ruff Ryders and LB on the jackets for Lady Bikers and enjoy ride outs and just having fun.

My Question is why is the biking community so segregated and stagnant here in England?

On searching for a online club, I've come across several forums dedicated to putting the idea of riding clubs down. Its really disheartening and scary, especially for newbies to the biking industry :(

Anyone care to explain?

Lol.....kant...... :D

if i go out with mates, its normally a right jumble of bikes, crossers, rice crackers, me on my chop and anything that has 2 wheels!
We ride what we want to ride, but its a rarity for me to be pack riding these days as i dont get the time like i used to, so sometimes my ride for the day is a 5 mile trip into work followed by a 45 mile trip back, depending on mood and weather....

welcome by the way

I ride alone or with the wife and a small group, I find it MORE fun as you aren't limited. You can maintain a better average speed and less to worry about.

As to RC's, there are tons out there.

Lol
a very firey new thread from a new person

No rally clubs?
where do you live here in the Great Britain
tiny hamlet in a cave :D

never been to a rally?

"You can tell the difference by their jackets, the MC's have 3 piece patches and are Known and respected everywhere they go.

Yes, most of us know-there are many clubs here in the UK

& the riding clubs normally have the letters of the club and sometimes a name on the top, I.E the R on the jacket for Ruff Ryders and LB on the jackets for Lady Bikers and enjoy ride outs and just having fun.

You need to point out the riders are ladies in USA? Blimey, you think they would know
and you let them have FUN
Oh no, lady riders having fun is not allowed here in the UK
chained to the kitchen sink we are, Guvner

My Question is why is the biking community so segregated and stagnant here in England?

Erm it used to be even more segregated, is almost mainstream now, old ladies tend not to run away screaming when we turn up at places on our motosickles

and Stagnant???

more pungent of a sunday, than stagnant

On searching for a online club, I've come across several forums dedicated to putting the idea of riding clubs down. Its really disheartening and scary, especially for newbies to the biking industry

whaddya mean newbie to biking INDUSTRY-you hoping to open a shop?
or you are not a bike rider now?

Go to Yoda's site & marvel at our rich & massive Biker community :p

are you a troll?

Stagnant and Segregated ?! .... dont follow you?

I know fer a fact the Harley / Custom crowd dont ride around with the GSXR "stunt boys" in the US ...

define that "segregated" comment if you would be so kind.
as fer stagnant ... well, maybe YOURS is ... ours is bangin!!!!!

suggest you get on and get out and meet some ...... that's how we generally do it over here ;)

I can agree with MOST of what you said Maggie, except about women riders. There is a MUCH larger percentage of women on bikes than in the states and personally I find the women here to be more independant (if sometimes outspoken :D )

Over here there is a better mix of bikes as well, in the great ol US most stick to their own brand (something I never did). It is understandable that cruisers don't ride much with racers, different riding styles. Me? I get there when I get there, not into 5 minutes faster or not at all.

altogether now

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

Well this is Great Britain, not America.
We also dont ride around looking like rejects from the Blue Oyster Club.
If you look around you'll probably find more bike clubs, bike events etc etc per head of people than you would ever find in the USA, the USA only fools itself into thinking it has more.
As far as us being disapointing, well what you doing here then? If you want the USA way of doing things its only a plane flight away.

Speak for yourself, love...I ride alone and I actually really like it, as for being dangerous...that's what people said when I packed up my rucksack and travelled across the world ALONE...I survived...I came back.

I reckon it's a state of mind....if your confident you'll be fine...if your a weedy female and call yourself a chick, then you've obviously no confidence in yourself :D and possibly become an open target

dangerous

Why?

lonely? Ipod on, stop when you want, go see what you want when you want, go home when you want, divert to somewhere else if you like

So (not trying to be rude, though it does end up that way at times)
You are a non confident, low experienced sports bike rider who wants to ride with a group of sport riders and build a speed machine in the near future that you cannot ride?

First I havent seen even where you are from, but (if I may) I will point out the flaws in all of this:

You are of low experience and confidence and want to ride with a group of people who go fast and do things people of high experience do. Personally I like to cruise and get there when I get there, but in my travels I see the racers and call some friends, those of low experience and confidence (with them) usually (at best) get left behind. Same reason they do not normally ride with cruisers, they want to go fast and bend the curves. At WORST, you of low experience and confidence might try to keep up with them (who HAVE the experience and confidence) and end up a grease smear on the road.

Next, you want to build your own machine and have no clue as to what is right and wrong (being of low confidence).

Experience and confidence (like respect and wisdom) are earned through time, not gained purely through association

Im with you KK, I preffer riding with my best and closest friends, those who take the time to get to know one anothers riding styles.

Even more so I love it on my own, if I want to take mountain curves I can do it in my own way (usually more lean than my friends) and do not have to adjust for a group. It is alot more freedom.

My thoughts exactly Freak, just went thru all the posts to confirm that suspicion, you beat me to it.
Alarm bells rang with the username and avatar, for a start it's a guy, probably a journo.Strangely enough, there's been a lot of registrations in the last few days by people who have posted naff all. Perhaps they're just here to see if there's any mud. Might go off and do some detectoring of my own...

Been contacted thru our website so far meself by The Sun, Channel 4, Daily Mail, and some yank vultures.
They all got one thing in common.
They can all get fucked.
Thinking about whats happened over the last few days and the coverage of whats happened, this makes perfect sense, i dont lnow if any of you read the sun yesterday and the article on pages 16-17 titled, angeles of death.......what a crock of cack....but i suppose you right anything to sell a newspaper.......so hands up, dozy bollocks here never really put 2+2 together and possibly thought that the media would possible join a forum to try and get a story.......so i will join taff in telling the to go and fuck themselves....nosey cunts

I nearly always ride alone - too be honest I prefure it - buts then aghain altho I may have a destination to go to often dont go straight there

then there the fuel stops every 40 miles or so ti fill up :)

everytime i ride with someone or a group i feel my freedom has been taken away

as for rider/rally clubs theres plenty around - u just gotta look for them as some are sorta invite onlyOhhh - cheers mate :(

Just looking at this from a different angle.
I think everyone needs to calm down. A bad thing has happened and nowt can change that and a lot of people are upset for good reason. I think if we all start getting jumpy about stuff its gonna do more harm than good though.
Ive seen this kind of thing before. If the press or whatever is infiltrating (for want of a better word) the forums etc then it may not be as bad as people think.
We all know what the media are like for cooking up bull****, maybe if they do get some good proper ideas, thoughts on the scene etc then maybe, just maybe some of their reports may end up with an inckling of truth in them for a change?!?!?!?!
At the end of the day paranoia is self destructive so fuck it, if people wannna know about the scene let them know, let them know how it really is and not all the urban myth bollocks.
Just an idea.

Oh gawd... I agree with Rob (help!!), its not as if anyone's said/done anything that would give the wrong impression of us. Aside from the fact we kind of advised someone against trying to join a sports bike club (and gave logical reasons), we're generally a pretty friendly bunch so what do we have to hide?

Welcome to the forum...As a lot of us live in out of the way places and work different times it is unlikely that many riders would want to meet up and ride to the same place, We do have meets and ride outs, some small group of us may meet somewhere like the Ace Cafe and go for a ride at the drop of a hat, but Britain does not have the same weather as some of the States of America, also there is a code of the road "in general" that means bikers are safe to ride alone here..some of us are independent and like to ride at our own speeds, sometimes taking a road not travelled before on a whim..every forum will have a list of organised ride outs and rallys and riders often meet up on the road...but the main reason we don't have riding clubs, may be because we don't feel the need for them.... :D John
