go for it. if it does'nt work out you can always flog the gear. if you don't have a go you will only regret it. besides, if some of the rock disco's around here are anything to go by you could clean up!

I do it on a very part time basis (you saw us at the Iceni Creature, it was nice to meet you) and I generally get quite a kick out of it.
We use a laptop with the OTSdj program on it. You can plug this straight into the mixer. You can also use it to create playlists before the event and you can edit on the fly if the playlist isn't working.
Only problem I find is that even though the laptops got over 5000 songs on it, its never enough !
Best bit is that you get to do rallys, get paid and meet loads of great people !

thanx - yep nice to meet ya Jim hopefully well meet again fora drink or several again soon.

music is something im not short of - have over 5000 cds to choose from - my only problem is remembering were things are :).

i have been djing for a club for just over a year - and its certainly been a steep learning curve.

we even done our clubs 1st rally and that taught me an awful lot ...
and am looking forward to doing the chilly willy rally late jan 2005....

I like the old type discos - lots of light n stuff - am off to Derby on Sat to look at a 2nd hand disco outfit.....

One thing I have learnt is not to try n be something you are not - most of my stuff is rock from pre 90's with a good selcetion of glam, rock n roll, middle of the road, and of course the old standby - 60s & 70s stuff.

But ya right when you are having a good nite the buzz is like nothing else

You're welcome.

All the best in bolting it together. I unfortunately don't have the first idea about the more intricate audio systems, but I can go ooh/aaah/hm and nod in the right places.

So, I'm sure it'll be lovely.

As I'm not particularly computer literate mebbe one of the geniuses (genii?) here could tell me if this'll work-I download the required NMA tracks onto a file on my machine,e-mail the file to Creature and he burns them onto a CD.If that won't work I'll get some CD's,burn some myself and fire them off in a jiffybag.Oh aye,and some Primus would go down well!

If you're going to put it all in a trailer, why not fit it all in the trailer? You can just roll up, hook up the power and play!
