Apparently free Sat Nav for your phone (ad supported)

http://www.amazegps.com/welcome.php

Also see http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07/19/amaze_for_free/ where I found it

Your phone must have either inbuilt GPS reciever or an external one (via bluetooth).

The camera, MP4 playing, gps phone is the next big thing... Next you will be able to do all that just by tapping a badge on your lapel :D

Yer but it costs to use it, probably at a very very high amount.

Yer but it costs to use it, probably at a very very high amount. It'll cost 3G/GPRS costs, which should be comparable with any other mobile phone based Sat Nav system (e.g. Tom Tom Mobile)

I got maps me.

I do too, but TomTom keep sending me free Riders, so it would be churlish not to use one.

I've received two free Riders in the last year, Version 1 and Version 2. Version 2 I've kept, Version 1 is now in the Sprog's car.

I know, i get prospects asking me for postcodes of clubhouses when they're driving there for meetings and stuff, then phoning me up lost when they go on their bikes.

Tried GPS briefly: shove it.
Much prefer maps and memory (mine, not melted sand). Very rarely gets me lost.

Hmmm, some musings that you might be able to answer for me Huw?

So if my phone contract gives me unlimited usage on 3G/GPRS it should be free to use this too then?

And I will need one of these (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/shop/mfcart.php) to make it go?

I downloaded it onto my phone last night to have a play with, the directions thing isn't as good as google maps imo (which I already have for emergencies, I use proper maps and memory for most of my navigating too) but the satnav could be useful if it's only going to cost me £35 for a bluetooth gps receiver........ lol if it will tell me where I am it's got to be a good thing!

I have a Nokia N73 btw and the main reason I don't use it more for stuff like this is cos the screen is too bloody small  however it appears that I could also download this programme onto my laptop (which connects to the internet via my Nokia 24/7 if there's a 3g/GPRS signal available and/or has bluetooth enabled) and use the screen on that for satnav in conjunction with my new receiver in the car - or have I read it wrong?

Not sure on the "using it on your laptop" thing. I was only looking at it from a phone thing... I'll dig a little deeper for you.
