In the name of GOD!!! and me a poor student - I'll be walking the 6 miles or hitch hiking to uni at this rate, either that or going out every day to siphon fuel out of the vehicles of rich folk. Where is Robin Hood when you need him?
Daylight flamin' robbery!!!!!!

i agree rediculous prices....but if you take out tax, then look at refining costs, shipping costs, drilling and exploration costs and then oil company wastage on bull**** and propoganda, its amazing its not more.
for example 2 years ago shell drilled 10 dry wells looking for oil off africa, at a cost of 25 million dollars each, plus what they had to pay the country for permission to drill. if theyd have found it, it would then have been about 3 billion dollars of investment to get the first barrel out if the ground to the market. thats if it all went to plan.
prices are based on the world markets, for crude and as chinas economy grows it needs more oil, prices go up, winter drawing in to usa prices creep up, political instability in middle east priuces creep up, all these things have an effect usually about 2 to 3 months in advance as crude is bought and sold well in advance.
but it would be alot cheaper if our robbing wasteing poloticians here, didnt financially shag us at every turn.

Might be worth checking out www.petrolprices.com where they show you your local fuel prices. It's not foolproof because they only update once a day but it might be helpful

91.9 is cheap, in Rugby we have one of the highest prices in the country (why the feck is that?) and it's pushing £1 a litre. The week before last, I went down the Fosse Way to Bourton-On-The-Water (Cotswold Perfumery visit, very important :D ) and, between coming off the Fosse Way and returning 1&1/2 hours later, the petrol had risen by a penny a litre to 95.5

To get best value for money, remember to fill up at a cooler time of the day if possible.

That's a good suggestion although I'm not sure how much difference thermal expansion makes when you think how much fuel a biker buys in comparison to a cage driver filling his tank up from empty.

Makes a big difference to me - R1100GS's have a nasty tendecy to have hot tanks due to position. It expands very rapidly and I can lose nearly a litre just walking over to pay after filling up on a hot day through the overflow pipe. And that is not even when filling it to the brim. a pain in the arse in the middle of long long trips when the engine doesn't get time to cool.
