Following up on Shudy's "Don't read this if you're one of those slag off harleys types" thread and Miss D's point that there are a number of recurring arguments in any biker community (on-line or in real life), why not have a list of such topics stickied so that people either a)don't bring them up again or b)if they choose to do so, they know they do so at their own peril. A number of other forums (and newsgroups) do this (sometimes referring to them as "Vampire Threads" because some silly sod resurrects them...)

Just my 2p worth.

maybe not a sticky Huw as would make the top of the forum huge

maybe a FAQ section a better idea?

2 p or not 2 p that is the question?

it's a shame shudy walked. it's too bad that anyone should feel they are being 'picked on'. people are however entitled to their opinions and it's up to any person who does not agree with what is being said to argue their corner. no offence was intended so none should have been taken.

Why bother ??

I like a good rant-n-rave even if I have ranted about it before.

Think about it, if we didn't ressurect (??) old arguments/discussions and the like, the forum would close after two weeks 'cause we'd all have f'all to talk about !!!

Hello Huw...

Yes indeed, the same ol' rants crop up, but I'm not in any way suggesting that was bad - it's quite reassuring sometimes that other people have the same gripes, that we can all contribute to.

It also gives some smart@rse an excuse to link back to the earlier thread and post a 'tchuh, we've done this one before...'

And let's face it. Planet biker would run out of conversation. Whilst I could probably contribute to threads about handicrafts or interior decor I suspect I'd be talking to myself. Which wouldn't be the first time.

OK, let's crack on then.

Rallys? Showers? In the olden days, you'd get thrown off the Kent site for using a toothbrush for anything other than applying chrome polish. But the waterworks are they're only there to keep the wimmin happy, eh?eh? Wimmin, pah. not like real bikers they'd break a nail on the socket set. Kids at rallies! what the hell is this? a bloody kindergarten? but it's ok if they all come on bikes, cos car's at rallies? who'd have thought it eh? never used to 'appen. Bloody disgrace. And the music. 'Bout time they played summat proper...

Speak for yourself. If you go straight to bed after dining on soft furnishings you are bound to get affected. Moderation is the key!!

Don't see anyone talking about restricting conversation. I raised the issue because some people were brassed off.

That's why I proposed summat that might avoid the issue. Everyone seems in agreement that it's not relevant in this case.

Fair enough I must of misunderstood your bit about "why not have a list of such topics stickied so that people either a)don't bring them up again......"
