Had a problem with my ears as a kid and as a result i have badly scar'd ear drums which does make me have a problem with balance.
Over the years i have gotten used to it. only real trouble i have now is as a passenger ( car, bike , bus, roller coaster :D ). completly throws my balance outa whack. looks like im pissed when i get out the car after a 3 hour drive.

I lost an eardrum in the army...totally deaf in one ear..sure I find myself leaning over to one side now and again and sometimes I feel as if I'm leaning when I'm not.also I drift to one side when I am walking in a straight line with my eyes closed....but it's one of those things that you get over..I can still ride but I can't drop a bike so that the pegs scrape..and I go round corners slower than most of you...But you can still ride...just ride within your limits...what the hell do you need two ears for anyway...As to the operation I understand there are now two types...type one they stick the good ear on your forehead so that you can hear people you are looking at and talking to...and type two they stick the ear on the back of your head where it is hidden by your hair, so that you can hear what people are saying behind your back....Hope this has put your mind at ease...John

About 20 years ago I started with an ear problem, initially it was like my ears needed to pop but wouldnt!!got quite painful and was effecting my balance on sudden movements, after a couple of months I started hearing crackling hissing and whistling in both ears!!after loads of tests(think they were looking for menieres disease!!) any way it was the onset of tinnitus!!as I was only 30ish at the time they had more or less ruled it out because of my age!!ive suffered with it ever since, its worse if I am under stress or if I drink spirits, beer doesnt seem to make it any worse but I am only a moderate drinker anyway,my balance is only effected rarely now as I am used to the noises altering(high and low tones etc) but its a real bugger to get used to I would say the first 15 years are the worst!!!hope you havent got it mate, regards Col.ps illegal fags send it mental!!!!!!pps they put it down to me being up to the speakers at sheffield city hall when purple, zeppelin, sabbath were playing!!nothing was mentioned about me working in the steelworks rolling mills!!!!!!!I suppose it could be that about 74ish I was blatting round on a dommi 88 with straight throughs!!!!!!
my left ear is shagged op i had resulted in a infection that undid all the good bone behind the ear was being eaten away and if it went to the brain 75% death rate so had the op done.
advice to any one if you get a lot of smelly earwax coming out of your ear get it sorted asp and insist on a specialist havening a look my old gp didn't diagnose it.
a young doc did and referd me to the hospital.
as for problems cant hear stereo so have problems locating mobiles ringing if left in the house or if called in the street ect also noisy halls are a bugger to.
as for the bike dont bank as well as i used to but you got to live with it and adapt to it.

read A few of them so that you can understand what the doctors are talking about....I have never had mine operated on...that doesn't mean I know anything about it...If you read on...most of the people are happy....

My wife had repeated ear infections when she worked as an audio typist.
Now she has severe vertigo, has been medically retired,is disabled and i have had to leave my job to be her carer.
Life is ****, so make sure anybody, get infections sorted.

i get problems with my ears all the time, i,ve got Psoriatic Arthritus, which is interesting, my ears block up and like you if i have quick movements or pressure(cornering) it makes you feel gippy.
I havnt told my doc either, most of the time its ok, but i find it worst in the car, i eventually had my ears vaccumed, its better now but it comes back now and again, for that i,ve got a ear was thing called otomise, not sure if you can get without a scrip tho.
get it sorted tho, it gets worse , i started falling over a work every time i turned quicly , funny to watch but makes you feel real pukey.
good luck kid.
