To M.O.T. a trike you need a "class 3" M.O.T. station, you can find them in yellow pages.
Where are you based?

There has been a whole lot of discussion on this in the Workshop forum here, plus loads details in issues of 100% mag.

First, with reference to those, check out SVA requirements and ensure that you trike complies.

Then think up a 17 digit chasis number that is gonna be unique to your vehicle (such as a combination of letters and numbers).

Then think of a name for it such as "Mustbemad" "Special".

Go down yer local DVLA office and get the registration forms and SVA application forms.

Fill these out and then you can insure the vehicle on the chassis number with someone like Adrian Flux at Bikesure.

Make an appoinmtent for an SVA test.

Having insured the vehicle you can then drive it to the SVA test and then get an MOT afterwards.

You may require a weight certificate as well, if it looks like it will exceed 410Kg.

If you pass the SVA you can then go back to the DVLA office with said certificates and apply for a registration number. This will be issued as a Q plate, and no personalised numbers are allowed.

You can then tax the vehicle, and the open road awaits.
