GOLDFISH CARNIVEROUS
i dont mean in the way of a man eating shark, but.......
yesterday i got my little uns a fish tank, 4 goldfish and a bottom feeding type kipper and the bottom feeding type kipper has gone awol
and i cannot find the little fecker anywhere, its not like it can grow legs and do a runner and it was there last night, sucking on the side of the tank like a good un and this morning its gone.....so would the goldfish have ate it :D or can they bury themselves in the stones....
waiting for the good and the bad answers, take your choice, but one sensible answer would be appreiciated :D

Certain types of fish will happily fight and kill/eat each other.
You're best taking advice from the pet shop about which types work together.

Does your tank have a lid, If not, it's more likely to have lept out
If the nitrogen levels rise in the water the sucker fish will race to the surface and gulp air, occasionally they leap out completely.
Have a look around on the floor they can wriggle quite a long way.
I wouldn't have thought the goldfish would eat an entire suckerfish in one night unless it was quite a small one compared to them.

goldfish are members ov the carp family, they will eat the very young ov any fish, larger carp/goldfish/golden orfe will eat small fish, very unlikely ya goldfish av etten ya other fish, more than likely its hidin under gravel,

Yup...my little goldfish wasn't called Shark for nothing....he ate every fish (or at least took a few bites out of the poor sods) that were put into his tank...despite their size. If I remember rightly he had a good ole' innings for a goldfish!!!

we got our little uns some gold fish a few weeks ago and the shop wouldn`t let us buy the tank and fish on the same day cuz you gotta let the water and stress coat stuff do there thing for about a week before you introduce the fish into the tank. 2 fish and one of them keeps chasing the other trying to eat his tail. if you go a pump it could be stuck on on that those sucker things are dark like pumps.

man in the shop told us not to get a sucker type fishy thing untill we have a build up of green algie on the glass as this is what they feed on and wont survive with out it. yes they do bury them selves.

Hi KKM
Those sucky things are a bit stupid and can get sucked up into the filter - I'd avoid them for future if kiddies are getting upset. But watch out about putting a lot of fish in the tank - I have a 2ft x 1.5ft x 1ft tank and I cannot get 5 fish to survive in it - not even minnows! bloody tank is cursed and will only take 4 fish.
As for eating each other.. yep fraid so.
Don't mix ordinary goldfish with fancy ones (the ones with big tails) because ordinary goldfish get tail envy and eat the fancy ones tails.
If your kids don't like fish dying avoid the black moors too (big goggly eyes and fancy tails) as they really don't like living... I've had loads and they insist on dying.
Kylie

Went round KKm's the other day and he was in the garden filling in a hole when i asked him "What are you up to there KKM?”
Found me fish,” replied KKM tearfully, without looking up, “and I’ve just buried him.” Now i was concerned, “That’s an awfully big hole for a little fish aint it kkm?”
Then KKM patted down the last heap of earth and replied, “That’s because he’s inside the feckin cat.”

uf youve got an under gravel filter with a bubble tower.they have been known to swim down the tower and get stuck under the mat. in an old tank they will survive quite a while , but in a new tank they starve to death.
