Yup but you have to be shorting the pins on one end, we use to play light sabres with em til one burst, oh and i discovered if you hold a vhf or uhf handheld radio under one and transmit it blows em as well ooops! :o

That may be true, but I find it doesn't illuminate the garage as well as a fluory tube does :D .

Carried 6 lengths of copper tube on a bicycle, like the charge of the Bengal Lancers. Got two six foot lengths of four X two home on the duke. It's all in the way you carry them.
I once carried a 56lb bag of potatoes on a very rainy night onto an Edinburgh bus & was surprised when the arse fell out of the bag & the spuds rolled up & down the bus for the rest of the journey

ahhh, this brings back happy memories of a thread i started back in july called something like whats the maddest thing you've ever carried on a bike. for me it was transporting our old dog the one hundred and seventy odd miles from brum down to poole. my wife wrapped her donkey jacket around her (the dog) and off we set, we stopped once at a lay bye in chippenham, rocky jumped off the bike , had a piss, jumped back up between us and we carried on down to poole. simple. :D

The maddest thing I've ever seen carried on the back of a bike is... no not Mrs R, she's a close second :D ... a mate of mine took a half full barrel of Guinness to a rally once on the back of his CX500 custom.
Great amusement to be had when we were all trying to work out how to get the Guinness from the barrel as no-one had brought a tap with them

once went to a breakers with me mate and he saw an engine he wanted, so on the way home he drove the bike, I sat on the plastic bit over the rear light with engine on the pillion seat between us. 20 odd miles of hell.

Two of us transported a 3lb live trout a lad had cought in the local river 2 1/2 miles to a mates pond/small lake he'd not long dug. The lad held the fish in a keep net while I warmed up me bike. We then wrapped the trout in a damp cloth, popped it in a carrier bag and I rode flat out, two up with said fish hanging from the bars. 3 weeks later me mate was stunned when he spots a large fish jumping for flies in his new pond. It was months before we confessed.
