I cannot believe these bloody things.
We just got an IT bloke in to sort out some stuff on our network at work. He went onto my terminal and brought up a massive list of stuff like, websites I have looked at (luckily nothing too incriminating lol) but also loads of info about my online banking details.
He started going on about .DIS and .DAT files or something but you just wanna be careful guys, it's all recorded somewhere...

You can get the tools to "recover" just about anything that was on on a hard drive easily from the net.
and you can recover things from hard drives that have been deleted/re-formatted/written over/dumped in the recycle bin.
There are, mind you, other tools that can totally wipe a hard drive.
just remember that when your doing something a bit "dodgy" and lets all be careful out there in cyberspace.............
Damn....I knew I shouldn't have bought that PC from Pete Townsend

tis also a good idea not to conduct your personnel banking or enter your credit card details on a work PC you might never know who exactly had got access to that info, same goes with using a mobile phone to give out you Bank/credit card details

lol :)
the only way to completely secure a PC is to unplug everything from it, and bury it. Even than, im not too sure...

Yes, information can be read from a formatted hard drive - that's one of the reasons defragging your hard drive every week is A Good Thing. After 7 passes most 'deleted' information has been over-written enough to make it irrecoverable.
Go to the top of the page you are looking at now. 'Tools', Internet Options'. Your cache should be 80Meg and your History 7 days. There are lots of other little settings that all help towards your security.
I fix all my friends PC's and I tell them all the same thing - if Gary G had brought his PC to me he'd not be in the trouble he's in now...
PC doctors should have to take some sort of Hypocratic oath too or else we could all run around with people's bank details etc.
Otherwise - microwave your hard drive. :D
