These bastards should have castration when they are caught...well the whole meat and two veg..that would almost certainly cut down on this happening...they say if they list their names and addresses and photo's it will drive them undergroung and make them harder to catch...so why haven't they caught this one... John

I dont want to sound unkind or uncaring and I do wish with all my heart that they find this little angel safe and sound. But I can't help feeling that something is'nt quite right about the story.

The children, all very young, were left unattended in a ground floor apartment with a window left ajar, while the parents who are both doctors, intelligent, well educated people, go out for a meal.

Apart from the possible risk of kidnap, what if there had been an accident or a fire? I'm trying to understand this one but finding it difficult to get my head around.

Then one woman says she saw a blonde woman about 50ish and a bloke 'acting suspiciously, then suddenly everyone else has reported two people of the same description on the beach, acting suspiciously. Are these descriptions not just being planted in people's minds, otherwise why did'nt they come forward immediately?

Fair play to the bikers and everyone else who is helping the search. wish there was something positive I could do.

Yeah CherryB most of us feel that there is something wrong with a parent who goes out to dinner and leaves three children alone in a strange room while they go out to dinner...but..that is probably just stupidity...just because they have degrees and are getting paid a fortune doesn't mean they are intelligent...or even smart...I really want this girl found.. :( John

You not done it then John? I have, I just didnt want to admit it at first, when I heard this story I thought "stupid!!" but now after some reflection I dont think they were stupid. They were unlucky, they didnt just leave them for hours they were checked on regular, (every 20 mins I believe) the Algarve is normally a safe place for kids, I used to live down there and know it well.
How many people on here have not left their kids alone for a while, in a car while nipping in to the shop? out of your sight in a park? or even queuing to pay for petrol in a garage?
I lost my son aged 5 in a park for 40 mins, all I did was ask a fisherman how he was doing, less than 2 minutes, I turned around and he was gone, I was fucking terrified.....he had gone to play with some girls that walked past.

It only takes a few seconds for someone to take your kids, you cant watch them every second.

The parents need sympathy and help not abuse.

Oh man .... i would not like to know what that feeling was like ( dont have kids myself ) ......

the old man told me a once, when I was a toddler ... he'd taken my brother to sail his yaught/boat on the boating lake in the park ... I was about 2, he let go of me for like a minute and put my bro's boat in the water ... then had to pull me out of the water, I was face down and underwater.... he shat his pants ...........

Have you never left a child alone? Well we have. 10 years ago at the Dragon Slayers Rally. Mikey was about 5 at the time I needed the loo and a cup of tea. Bunbag was in the marquee p****d so had to leave the bairn. Does this make me a bad mum? Thankfully all was well but how many others leave them at rallies?

I see lots of kids wandering around at rallies without parents in tow.

I remember my mother telling me a story how she went home from shopping one day and after about an hour suddenly realised something was missing, and raced back out and found me still in the pram parked outside the butchers shop.

Its great that so many people has pulled together to find this little girl. I don't blame the parents for spending 5 minutes out to have time for themselves.

A child tucked up in bed with siblings should have been safe enough.

but my thoughts are that:

1) Shes already out of the country
2) Shes already been sold on...

The golden hour has been missed and the local authorities messed up with this closed investigation crap!

but it was nice to see the riders getting lots of coverage on TV news, be marvellous if some of them could get a result

My oldest daughter was going to take her two children (8 & 10) to spain for a holiday this year..now I'm glad to say, she has changed her mind...and yes pyro..sorry to say I have left my kids for the odd minute..hell I left them with my wife all day while I went to work, even while I went to work abroad..and on reflection..I was wrong to criticise to parents...it's just this terrible feeling of helplessness..I get so angry and I can't direct that anger at the paedophiles..it's useless directing it at the government for their soft laws or the judges for their soft sentences (which make me suspect half of them are in sympathy with the paedophiles)..so that only left the parents...I was out of order...John

I see lots of kids wandering around at rallies without parents in tow.

One rally I went to (many years ago) was ruined by a kid whose parents had left him on the site on his own, whilst they pissed off into town to buy more beer. The little git was a complete pain in the arse and nearly ended up getting murdered when he decided it was a good idea to twat some bloke round the head with a plank of wood. I believe that the parents were really in the **** from the rally organisers when they finally reappeared.

I generally don't have a problem with kids, it's irresponsible parents that I really have a problem with. Fortunately, the peeps on here seem to have brains where kids are concerned.

Someone has obviously been watching them. The worst thing for the parents would be never knowing what has happened to her.Doesn't bear thinking about.
I got left on my own quite often as a kid & had to babysit my sister too when I was under 10 years old.Don't think there were quite as many wierdos around then. The most harm we ever came to was when we blacked up our faces with my dad's shoe polish & it wouldn't wash off!

My mother, wicked old git that she was, locked me and my little bro in the cellar then went to the pub. Dad worked nights for as long as I can remember. I've been afraid of the dark since and still have to have some light on. I cant turn a light off in a room and walk out of it properly, I have to back out.

But your right I dont remember having the weirdos around that we have today, or pehaps we did but it didnt get the media attention.

I do have a very strong feeling that this little girl is alive and well though and I think she will turn up. However, how it will have affected her psychologically is anyone's guess.

If you think back to that little boy who went missing in the shopping centre was it James Bulger?, an all the other dreadful cases since, if my kids were still small, I wouldnt let them out of my sight for a minute.

I'm not being unkind to anyone I just hope that this family is reunited, soon.

Years ago, Griff and I took Ad and his sisters to Ibiza for a camping holiday. Ad was about 8 at the time. Griff and I decided to take a walk down the beach one night, for some 'private' time. We left the kids asleep in the tents. Seems a fukkin' stupid thing to do now, but at the time we thought they would be safe. And they were, fast asleep after a well busy day.
But as Griff and I was walking back to the campsite, Ad comes stroling along the beach. He had woken up and decided to come and find us. How the fukk he knew we were on the beach was a mystery. But when we saw him walking along the beach, 8 years old, alone, in the dark, we realised how fukkin' selfish we had been just for the sake of a shag!
Ad weren't scared at all, and no-one was in sight, so we were blessed, but never again did we do summat so fukkin' stupid!

I hope with all my heart these guys get thier little girl back, but in my heart of hearts I cant help thinking she has long gone. Out of the country, maybe by now even brainwashed into thinking her mummy and daddy left her alone coz they no longer wanted her.
These bastards need hanging, any less a punishment is far too lenient.
This poor little girl will be scarred for life.
As for the bikers, well that says it all about what kind of people bikers really are huh?
Fair play to them ,and what a kick in the arse for the policia it will be if they actually get a lead to finding little Madeleine.

the thing I dont understand about it all is that a pair of parents, I beleive both doctors!! would leave children alone in a strange place

the other thing that really puzzled me from the first moment that it hit the news is why if it was an abduction would they take a child thats old engouh to know their full details, age name etc etc, surely the younger twins would have been the target?

maybe the reason for taking the girl was more horrible than I wish to think about.

I have seriuos doubts that shes still in the area or even alive to be honest, thanks to the polices inablility to actually do anything useful at the outset of the crime

I hope that she is found alive and well, but that chance must be fading fast now

whoever is responsible doesnt deserve to live, but on the other hand death is too good for them, why should their suffering be over and done with while the families and friends etc are left to wonder why.

Oh, they were around, it is just highlighted a lot more these days:

When I was younger (1980s) me and my mates got chased out of the woods by a man wearing nothing but wellies...my mate got really scared by it, and had counselling and everything, I on the other hand found it hilarious.

Also, the was an incident when I was out running, where a man tried to get me into his car...now that was scarey...I was out in the sticks, I remember I carried on running as close to the hedge as possible and he followed me for ages in the car, till we saw a horse rider up the lane, and I yelled for help. He soon drove off!

Yeah anyway, back to topic - fingers crossed they find the child...

well you see mate this is how times change - I would quite like a man to chase me in the woods wearing nothing but wellies - must be me age :D

sorry - didnt mean to make light of a very serious thread.

Whilst I have every sympathy for what the parents are going through, I think that whatever the outcome, they should be charged with neglecting their children for leaving them kids on their own. Its not only a stupid thing to do anywhere in the world nowadays, but also illegal.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that the parents had only 'popped out for 5 minutes', but they had actually gone out to tapas bar which would take considerably longer than 5 mins. My son had a nasty accident aged 15 months, when my back was turned for 2 seconds and he still carries the scars today! You need eyes in your bum with all kids and accidents do happen, but to leave 3 very young children, alone in a ground floor apartment with an open window and go out for a jolly to the local tapas bar seems ludicrous to me - I'm sorry. Usually parents take their kids with them to eat out in the evenings or otherwise get a baby sitter.

Checking on them every 20 minutes isnt good enough. This is a nasty cruel world we live in and no country, however child friendly it is, is safe from the vile people that lurk around. As parents it is our duty to protect our children and leaving them alone is leaving them vulnerable.

I still think there is a lot more to this than we have heard and a great deal more will shock on this case before it's over. I just hope the innocent little girl is safe somewhere and is found alive and well.

If it wasn't for them leaving the kids alone, they wouldn't be suffering now.AND i DOUBT THEY HAVE SUFFERED AS MUCH AS THE LITLE GIRL.

Lets hope the child is found safe and well. Then charge the parents with neglect. Simple.
