Thats my point John, my kids learnt respect and discipline from me and they are great and all the better for it. But today they know they cant be disciplined so we are now having to deal with this kind of atrocity. My wife is from a single parent family and turned out fine.

There are lots of exceptions to the rule, but the data sugguest that single parenthood is not an ideal situation to raising a well balenced child...

well, thats possibly true, but that doesnt mean that those kids arent a product of their own home environment. it would take more than a legion of school teachers to stop me from making anyone who threatened or bullied my kids from being made aware of what awaited them. indeed this has happened. when my eldest was getting bother i took her to school on the bike, and told her that when we got there, to go to the kids that were giving her grief(who were being dropped off by their parents at the same time), and tell them that her dad wanted to have a word with their dad about their behaviour.whilst pointing me out to them. he didnt want to get out of the car, but the bullying stopped there and then, never a punch thrown. bullys are by nature cowards, and giving into them is to show weakness. thats why these kids who get away with it do it, because they can. and society shows weakness by not treating them with the contempt they deserve.
