the parameters are to wide to say which.
you can fall off a bike at 50 get up and walk away.
you can fall off a skateboard and break your legs :(

I would say the pillion usually comes off worse. In '93 I was on the back of me mates GSXR11, and he lost it going up the A1M. We were doing 130 and the traffic had stopped. I was thrown upwards while he slid with the bike. He walked away with cuts and brusies. I on the otherhand hit the back of the lorry, apparently sliding down to the floor like a cartoon character!! I remember seeing the truck and then waking up in the QE2 hospital!! Fractured me skull, broke 3 ribs and puntured a lung, shattered me knee cap and broke me leg in 3 places!! 6 months in hospital!! Me mate gave up biking

she died, he broke his leg

Statistically the rider comes off worse but only by a fraction! Thats looking at ALL bike accidents where death has occured! Unfortunatly it depends, as Draken pointed out, what you base your calculations on! If you hit somthing head on its probable that the rider will come off worse as his body will take some off the force out of the damage to the person following! Havin said that! Not all bike accidents are head on! So the question is really a bit too broad to be specific about statistical probabilities! I`ll get my coat! :o

who comes off worst....depends on the ability of who's controlling the bike.

Had a crash with a girlfriend a few years back.
She fell off and landed within 8 feet of where I hit. Broken nose, broken collarbone, nasty gravel-rash.
I barrel-rolled the bike (probably looked impressive) and only separated just before landing about 30 feet up the road. I hurt my hip.

My last accident, twat turned right infront of me. No time to brake, tried to steer away, but impacted my left leg against his offside front wing. Demolished wing as I went causing severe damage to leg, but pillion only had superficial bruises.

Also had a head on, but got trapped between bike and car long enough to roll over bonnet and away from car. In a head on, the pillion is usually catapaulted over the rider, as the bike stops and then tries to move backwards. I think at the end of the day it is the luck of the draw.
